A former Oklahoma resident has found that she spent the last two decades with a felony charge to her name after failing to return a rented VHS tape.

Caron McBride's legal troubles stem from a VHS copy of 'Sabrina the Teenage Witch' which was rented back in 1999 from Movie Place in Norman.

McBride says she assumes it was rented by a roommate.

But when the tape was never returned it was her that was charged with felony embezzlement of rented property in March of 2000.

The rental store ultimately closed in 2008, but the charge remained.

McBride says she only learned of the charge in the last year when she got married in Texas and tried changing her name.

She now fears the charge has been secretly plaguing her life for years - and could be why she has missed out on job opportunities.

I see it on a daily/weekly basis. Folks too poor to give a shit, being arrested on Capias warrants for unpaid fines. One lady had over $6000 dollars in fines. Mostly for COC/FTA for not showing up for a stop sign ticket. Such bullshit....just right it off and let it go. Im so tired of cities making money off fines.....:nonod:

False felony charges suck the donkey dick. Had one on my record for about 20 years before it was discovered.

Had to pay state police a bunch of money to reveal what they had in my record. Even then they wouldn't give it to me, said it could only be released to lawyer. Some kind of extorsion scheme? Don't know, hard to say, maybe just some half-assed idiot who thought ruining lives was funny.

A judge finally examined the situation a few years later and ordered the state police to remove it off my record but I wouldn't bet money that it's gone.

All about control, IMO. Insanely complex tax code is an obvious and even better example.

It isn’t about funding government, it’s about controlling the population, ensuring they can’t understand how to comply with government demands, limiting competition for corporate cronies, etc.

Back some 40 years ago, I had to apply for TS clearance, and was surprised I was approved, FBI sent a young agent to interview me over a friends TS clearance and so for my clearance they interview him...maybe 5 years later....
