Exactly why I got mine too.

BlackVue DR900S in both my cars now.

**** you and **** your lies.

Every time we get a letter from the Condo board we write back and ask for the date/time so we can provide video and they never reply. Funny, eh?

Did the reviews, and this Korean brand is the best out there. 4k front, 2k rear, $500 each. I don't give a shit about cost. Been meaning to do this for 2 years. Some neighborhood bitch confronted my daughter and wife today claiming that my daughter was doing 50 mph in a 30 and almost hit her kids. Problem is...daughter never goes to that street to drive home, and is one of the few ****ing humans in this stupid neighborhood that does a) the speed limit, b) stops completely at every ****ing stop sign, and c) uses her turn signal.

I got a cheapo 4 or 5 years ago after a cop pulled out in front of me... Lasted a year, threw it away got another one. Lastest have frt and rear. Odds are 99.99% of the time I'll never need it so a sdcard and decent video will work for me. Mine caught a guy doing 120 plus on the shoulder right after i got it. Bad angle or I would have gotten the plate. If i lived in snow belt id have one for sure in every car.
I did have video of me trying to pull an asshole out of a camaro that tried killing me couple years back. I should busted his window flexo style... :slap:

snip.

Incident #1: Stopped at a red light at 5am on my way to the gym in an industrial area. Literally deserted. I sat at the light the whole time anyway. Light turns green and I roll through and out of nowhere this cop comes flying up behind me and pulls me over. Asks me why I ran the red light. I told him I didn't. He went nuts on me, but I guess he was late for his donut or whatever and he let me go no ticket. WTF?

Incident #2: Getting off the highway and a cruiser has someone pulled over on the off-ramp. I went wide around them and downshifted as I slowed to a stop, turned right, went on my way. About a mile down the road some jackass dump truck driver parked in the right lane so he could go get a coffee and I had to merge into the left lane. Boom same cop that was on the off ramp flies up behind me and pulls me over. Asks me why I accelerated and swerved at him. WTF I did the opposite. Then says I was driving recklessly because I changed lanes to avoid the dump truck parked ON THE ****ING ROAD. I gave him some attitude and he charged me with Careless Driving. The most serious charge under the Highway Traffic Act. Anything worse is Criminal.

Both incidents were when I had my 2010 SRT8 and that is why I first got a dashcam and I have run one in all my cars since.

All these crybaby neighbors equate loudness with "dangerous driving" so we get letters all the time, even though I drive slower in this complex than anyone else because of the speed bumps.

If you need a dash cam to prove you’re not a dick when you’re being a dick.....you’re a dick :yesnod:

People lie and cops make judgement calls based on personal biases.

Case in Point:

When I was 25 years old I was on my way to a Chevy dealership to buy my first Corvette. I was driving on a major road 3 lanes in each direction plus a left and right turn lane for a total of 5 lanes in my direction.

There was a dude in a truck in the left turn lane with his left signal on, stopped, waiting to turn left. I had a green light just cruising along. Dude decides he wants to turn right instead so drive perpendicular across all lanes to turn right and I t-boned him.

100% his fault.

Cop charged me with Careless driving.

WTF?

Me; young dude in a Camaro

Him; Middle aged dude in a truck

Not sure what he told the cops but how in the hell could any cop fault someone driving straight on a green light?

Went to court and the prosecutor told my lawyer she had a good case against me because i was turning right from the left turn lane.. My lawyer said "No, that's YOUR witness, my client was the other driver. Case dismissed.

Cost me $600. Never should have bene charged in the first place.

I had no collision on the car and since the cops charged me initially insurance paid me nothing.

I got fukked over royally.

Wish we had dashcams back then.

Have dashcams front AND rear facing in all cars. Kid got her license and first car in September- two weeks later, a massive dickhead blew a stop sign. Whole thing on cam. He received a ticket and pretty sure his minimal bullshit insurance cornholed him when the repairs of 11k and 5k diminished value hit him.

Dash cams arrived today. So far extremely impressed. Will post videos soon, but the most important part is the clarity is perfect for reading license plates. Whole bunch of very cool features, including the rear facing camera, and a radar sensor for parking lot bs that may happen to your car. Phone app is slick, and you will be able to replay an issue at will with a police officer if necessary.

Yes but can you get live video and sound inside the car remotely :D

Be careful about sharing raw video with insurance/ police. Mine has GPS with speed detail etc. Cop friend said if you are 1mph over, it can skew things. Said play the video on your pc and record a cropped version without unnecessary info.

Phone app only shows the video/audio, no gps overlays. :seasix:

I got mine after a dickhead side swiped my 996; passed me on the right on an exit ramp, then hit me trying to get back on the highway. Told the cop that I changed lanes into him; he-said, he-said, and I'm out my $1000 deductible, and I no longer have a low-mileage, no accident car. Oh, and he was a Liberty Mutual agent...

...about a year later I had a lady change lanes into me in my daily driver. Okay, could have happened to anyone, I figured I'd give her a break. I asked her for her insurance info, and we'd not involve the cops...she says, "well, maybe you changed lanes into me." I said fine...I've got it on my dashcam. I'll call the cops, and you're getting a ticket." And that's exactly what happened.

Get a dashcam. Mine was $35 on Amazon.

People like her make me like my dog more and despise bitches. A good hard donkey kick to her ole box should be allowed.

Exactly the point! I just got back from a night-time trip to the gas station to test out low light videos and I can still read the license plates pretty easily. I'm glad we didn't have an "oh shit" event prior to pulling the trigger on the cams. Now I need to get them loaded into wife and daughter's cars this weekend. Race club is also buying one for my Tundra. Accidents while towing a 10,000# trailer can get nasty quick, and having evidence that some ass-hat dive bombed your lane at the last second is truly worth it.

I'm still trying to figure out the 4k options. The monitors I'm reviewing the video on are 2k, I need to check the camera settings with my phone. My laptop has a 4k screen. Absolutely need to ensure the highest quality setting is the default. :yesnod:

Edit: just confirmed the videos are 4k @ 30 fps. Going to experiment with 2k @ 60 fps. Supposed to get more detail.

I ended up with these. First one on kids car second one in my Tahoe. Had them hardwired so I didn't have to deal with wires all over. Both have super capacitors, so no problems associated with batteries that crap out after a while or in hot or cold weather. So far. So good.
