Kinda in the same as the covid stuff thread but different enough for seperate thread I think so we can discuss it here instead of mingled in.
Anyway about the vacinne...
1. When it is available will you take it?
2. Will you when your employer requires it?
3. Will you take it when required for schooling in person(obviously meant for your kids) college included?
4. Will you take it when required for traveling either via airplane or to other countries?
5. If no to #1 (https://www.thevettebarn.com/forums/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=1) will you just wait(yea i know shoukd have been #2 (https://www.thevettebarn.com/forums/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=2) question) and see what happens to others?
6. If you do not take it what do you do about other restrictions they may impose? (Canada talking about restrictions of travel and masks etc if don't have vaccination).
7. Since it's mutating do you think repeat (well really a different vacinne) will be needed?
Let's keep it civil please, if you want to sling mud go to covid thread.
I'll start.
1. Probably not(if had elderly parents I'd say yes)
2. What choice would i have.
3. If kid in school still yes i suppose.
4. No, not just for this reason
5. Most likely senario for me
6. I can see this being an issue if we don't get a handle on this
7. I hope not but I can see a new vacinne every year just like the flu.

Let all the Karens be the guinea pigs; if they survive, I'll consider taking it.

Some folks just can't help themselves...
As for the vaccine, I have no plans to get it.
I am super skeptical of this shit and I will not be first in line to get the vaccine. In fact unless required I will likely not get it.
They are already talking about about penalizing people that do not get vaccinated by limiting their ability to move freely in society.
That is pretty ****ed up.
If it comes to that I guess I will have to make some difficult choices.

I said Karens will be among the first to get it - that's not the same as saying that anyone who gets it is a Karen. Hypersensitive much? :funniest:
Like everything else associated with this crap, I値l avoid it till the last minute.
I値l live without the vaccine until it stops me from doing something I want more than not taking it.

I'll take the vaccine, but I will not be first in line. I want to observe how it pans out...

I won't get it until the restrictions for not having it manage to put me in a chokehold and I'm forced to.

1. Probably.
2.Probably won't happen, Too small of Company.
3. N/A
4. N/A for now, don't plan on any type of mass transit.
5. I figure I'm a month or 2 out before its available to me (67 y/o),
plenty of time to see if any zombies appear before then.
6. N/A, see #1 (https://www.thevettebarn.com/forums/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=1) .
7. Yes. I have read some where that the current vaccine may only be
reliable until the next season flu bug comes along - 6 months or so.
Now, having had C-19 which required 13 days of Hospitalization, and I'm still on oxygen 25+ days later, I don't want to go thru this shit again.

A huge black market will develop for fake vaccine proof. I値l pay for one.

Here is my issue with it. If it is not kept at the correct temperature, it will be ineffective. However, the only way you'll know is if you get Covid. An what if the first shot is good and the second one bad, or vice versa? You'll never know...until you get Covid.

As someone who has already recovered from the virus and has immunity, I would expect you to be at the very back of the line when it comes to vaccinations. :yesnod:

My work is not requiring it.
but yes, I plan to get it.
From what I understand, the guess is that an annual or every 3 year shot MAY be needed.
I always get the flu shot and am knee deep in influenza patients yearly, have not had the flu in 20 years.
This is a newer form of vaccine, but the research I have done on it, makes e very confident that the risk of adverse reaction is extremely low.
I'll be your guinea pig.

Hope you do STILL have immunity. We test often for immunity in patients and they are not showing to have prolonged antigens. Mine were gone < than 4 months.

I will wait a bit and see what happens to the general population first. If forced, I will seek the Moderna version because a bit of warmth is less critical to potency.
I do suspect some mutagenesis will occur and expect to need additional immunization as the bug evolves.

Good point and an additional question, which vacinne would you get and is one better than the other.

1. When it is available will you take it? Yes

7. Since it's mutating do you think repeat (well really a different vacinne) will be needed? This shit will be with us for years, and yes it will probably require another shot
I take a flu shot every year since I had my spleen removed back in mid 80's. Taking this shot is not a big deal for me. As soon as the doc says it's ready, I'll get it.

1) I don't need it as soon as some so I'll wait
2) If Kelloggs requires it they will already have it available so then yes

Why would natural immunity last any less time than vaccine-derived immunity? Antibodies is antibodies, ain't they?

I値l get it. By the time I知 allowed to have it, a few hundred million will have already had it and we値l know if there are safety issues.

1. When it is available will you take it? Negative.
2. Will you when your employer requires it? This one is sticky wicket. As a condition of employment? I suppose I'll be forced if it's a condition of employment.
3. Will you take it when required for schooling in person(obviously meant for your kids) college included? N/A.
4. Will you take it when required for traveling either via airplane or to other countries? Negative.

6. If you do not take it what do you do about other restrictions they may impose? (Canada talking about restrictions of travel and masks etc if don't have vaccination). Live with them. Until I cannot.
7. Since it's mutating do you think repeat (well really a different vacinne) will be needed? Not a clue. Not my field.

I generally never take the first offering of any vaccine; but this time I will.
Since I'm immuno-suppressed (and tired of all the hype)... I just want to get it over with.
Why would natural immunity last any less time than vaccine-derived immunity? Antibodies is antibodies, ain't they?
Local immunologists here are saying the antibodies last 3 months.
Beyond that 3 month point is unknown. I also heard on ABC News, a DR. stating that the antibodies are present for 6 months. So, crap-shoot.
Of course, there are antibody tests available, but the reliabiltiy is suspect, as the tests available in this region are the quick-test type, and a pharmacist at one of the stores that offers them says the results are not reliable.
One other thing to consider is this,
There are reported cases of people getting the virus for a second time.
I'm not sure if this is the case, or if these people just have a relapse.
But the below linked article disputes the relapse with a positive test, then a negative test 1 month later, then another positive test another month or so later.
I also hear repeatedly about all of the false-positive/negative tests, so....?
https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2020/11/more-people-are-getting-covid-19-twice-suggesting-immunity-wanes-quickly-some
AS I stated in an earlier post in this thread, I will get the vaccine when it's available to me, because I don't want to go thru the shit I'm struggling thru right now.
If I have to do it yearly because of the different strains in this virus, so be it.
Your results may vary, but good luck with whatever decision you make.
Other than the standard childhood vaccines, I don't generally get vaccinations. I did, last year, get the shingles vaccine. People in my family have had it during particularly stressful situations, and I knew I'd be going through the same thing at some point, so I got it.
Not sure about the Wu flu vaccine. It won't really be a question for most of us until next year, probably in the Spring or Summer. I certainly won't line up and wait for hours or days for it. Like any new thing, there will be early adopters, and then people who adopt later. If I get it, I'll be in the latter group.

At this time I plan on taking it when available. It has been tested and there are no reports that I know of that show adverse affects. I know for sure there are some very adverse affects possible without taking the vaccinew. Unless I hear convincing info otherwise, I will take it.
