Based on affirmative action, its basically the law you have to consider skin color when hiring and firing...... which is the exact opposite of that whole Ihave a dream speach.

It all started with Affirmative Action established by JFK in 1971. It really upset my grandfather as he saw it as forcing him to hire certain people. He had mostly blacks working for him in the produce business. He had one white man (a relative) working his poultry farm.

The day after JFK's speech, my grandfather was discussing this with a friend on the front porch. He started suffering from a heart attack at that time and died before he got to the hospital.

and, that kind of activity in Milwaukee is why we are going to suffer through Bidens term as president. I pray it is only one term for any democrat. biden will be gone in three months.

When i first started full time with the college, after the first full semester with my student techs working for me (and my full timer), my first boss who is still a very liberal woman, asked me if i wanted to look at new student techs to get some more diversity.

I told her, "I have a fat, white geeky kid who is 25 and has never had a job. He's been trained for the job and it took some work. I have an old, fat, white veteran who was easy to train for the job, and a muslim egyptian dude (US citizen by birth) who learned the job fast. Why should i change what works?"

She gave me the whole spiel about diversity, gender, race, blah blah blah. Had to remind her these are student jobs and the hiring rules aren't as stringent, but it's a lot easier for me to fire them for any reason even without notice. Again, why retrain a new crew when i just took over the lead tech position for the sake of diversity. All those students worked for me for two and a half years until they graduated and had to leave. The other was there for 5 years.

It's stupid. I want qualified people who are able to be trained in the technical aspects and Customer Support aspects. I've hired students of all genders and races who could do both of those (required) and had to let them go. Can't have mediocrity like that.
