Despite the Maserati GT that I have for 3 days, and the C7 for the balance of the trip, we are doing THIS!!! (https://exoticsracing.com/)
We're going to each get 5 laps per car in 3 different cars.
This is what we have reserved. For me:
Corvette C8 Z51
Lamborghini Aventador
Audi R8 V10 Plus
GWiz gets:
Lamborghini Huracan Performante
Mercedes AMG GT R
McLaren 570S
Mom is getting a ride-along in:
Ferrari 488
Porsche GT3
I don't even have to buy those 2 go pros for 800 bucks. Only $140 for all 3 drivers, all cars, 2 camera angles per car. :hurray:
If I can spend $1800 on a bottle of Scotch, I can damn well spend some quality track time with my 22 year old daughter who has epic driving skills. :hurray:

Just for a frame of reference:
36 Laps in my Z06 cost me $2,000 in Hoosiers
We will be getting a total of 34 laps between the 3 of us, and dual camera angle videos with the data overlays for $2,129.
AND, we're booked on the 18th which is my mom's actual birthday!!!

My first gun is on the near-term radar. And in true Craig fashion, I'm sure I go overboard with lots of guns very quickly. I am an OCD zealot. When I latch onto something, it's all or nothing.....hence why I haven't started flying airplanes. :leaving:

gun prices are up a bit lately, if you can find them, but worse is the cost of ammo. it's running about 3x what it was about a year ago, with no sign of coming back to "normal". reloading you say? cool, same problem, finding and affording components.
i have 3 pistols i'm selling at the local gun shop. i'll have to call them tomorrow and see if any have sold.

Assuming I don't die, Scott and I would love to have you join us in Florida after the first of the year. He's renting a house on the water again, as he always does. I just don't know his dates. If the 3 of us made a date out of it, I'd have zero problem finishing the bottle.
Then just got to figure out where/how to get the next one.

I’m already in FL. And I love Scotch and fast cars. And I have my competition license, along with firesuit, helmet, etc.
I have some 25 YO Highland Park I could bring - unless it’s gone. :shots:
I saw a bottle of 40 YO Highland Park in the Duty Free store in the Toronto airport last year. I texted a photo to my wife and said I needed it. She replied “So buy it.” At almost $5k CAD I didn’t bring it home.

Holy shit! Where in Florida? We got to make this happen. The 3 of us can sit on the water's edge at Scott's place, finish the 25 Mac, and if we time it right, do some autocrossing at my venue in some fast cars!!! :lilred:

I really like Macallan but have never had any that went for that kind of money. I did find a local restaurant that if you are seated by 6:00 their bar prices are half off. I ordered a Macallan (menu did not say what age) but it was $7.00. As soon as the waitress brought it, I ordered another. She laughed and said she would wait until 5:58 to place the order at the bar.

The 21 year Mac I bought was 650. The 25 year was 1800. What a difference 4 years make. They have 8, 12, 15, 18, ... I think. It's exponential in price as you go up in years.

Have you done any open road races out west, like SSC or BBORR? Those are way different from track days, but incredibly fun and challenging. I’ve won the BBORR twice in the 150 mph class with an actual time within 0.5 seconds of my target time.

I could potentially have 4 cars to sample:
2008 Z06 (685 hp)
2009 Z06 (505 hp)
2021 C8 Z51 (495 hp)
2015 BRZ (lol hp). But the handling will BLOW you away.
We could time this with one of my regular track events and make it a sub event for our own enjoyment.

BBORR is way better than SSC. 130 miles on a closed 2 lane highway at 165 mph most of the way is way different driving. A good navigator is a must have. That’s how I got involved in it initially.

At those speeds, you better to be able to see 1 mile ahead or more. The longer I've raced, the further away I can see down the road. Long distance field of vision becomes second nature after awhile of driving at speed.

Yup. Things come fast at those speeds.
The 3-4 cars that run the unlimited class at BBORR every year are insane. If they don’t break down they average over 180 for the entire race. :wow:

Fun fact...I've already paid for this outing in full...non refundable.
All I can do is change the date, not that that will be necessary. Mom is on board and looking forward to this. She just wanted to make sure it didn't interfere with the rest of the family coming over for dinner for her birthday.

Shortly after getting my C5, I decided I wanted to see what it would do. We lived pretty close to I-81 so one Sunday morning I got up very early and got on 81 southbound. Cruised down to the next exit checking out the median for state police. Turned around at the first exit and opened it up coming back north. Ran it up to about 145. Shit happens real quick at those kind of speeds on an open road. Luckily no deer or other four legged critters decided to try to cross the road.

My brother and I were in my 1992 C4 heading south on I-75 doing 159 mph at 3 am. We came up on cars in both lanes...I slammed on the brakes and brake dust was igniting out of the front wheels. I was 24 at the time and total douche bag to have done that.
Now a-days, I drive like Ms. Daisy on the street, and go like hell on the track. I can no longer replicate the intense experience of track time with on street time, thus anything that could possibly risk my license on the street is a waste of time. I'm less than 5 over everywhere I go.

I did the exotic racing in Vegas a few years ago... I did the Aventador and the Boxster S... It was a blast... but to be honest, I was really just getting the feel of the Aventador on the last lap... I really should have done a few more...
They had a guy doing hot laps in a C6 Vette that was a professional Drift guy (did some of the driving on Tokyo Drift). Daughter loved it, he drifted every corner (maybe that's why she married a guy who does drifting). The wife screamed around every corner.. LOL
