My dad is dying and his brother passed last night.

It’s so weird how this is unfolding. My uncle was 4 yrs younger than Dad. He was a big presence in my childhood.

Sorry to hear this man. I remember when I had a couple of scares, then my dad finally passed, the people on this site were a great comfort when I needed it.

Returned from my uncle’s funeral last night. My uncle was one of the coolest people I’ve known. He was into so many things that I had an interest in and I always admired him.

Funny story, sorta. I was visiting Mom and Dad at their assisted living facility last weekend. On my final day there, I stood up too quickly and became light headed and passed out just as the hospice nurse walked through the door. When I passed out, I fell backward directly into Mom’s chair. I woke up to the nurse putting a pressure cuff on me. My sitting BP was 180/80. She had me stand and it plunged to 130/60. She said I have orthostatic hypotension...so I have that going for me. I have to watch my hydration.

At any rate, I returned to the sofa and Mom started giggling like a little girl. She laughed all afternoon about it. I was fearful I would have upset her, but to get that reaction was a relief.

Time and life move on...

Damn. This is tough, really tough, and you need to be strong for your mom, your aunt, and the rest of your family. Hang in there.
