TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) - A little boy from Green Springs is in serious condition at Mercy St. Vincent Medial Center recovering after being dragged underneath a car.

We talked to the people who helped out 6-year-old Tye Warwick.

Warwick has a lot of wounds to his face and body after being trapped under a car Sunday afternoon.

"I heard kids screaming 'No! No!" said Amanda Spencer from Clyde.

She was at a gas station in downtown Green Springs when she heard those screams. She turned to see Warwick and his bicycle being dragged underneath a Chrysler Pacifica. She took off running at the car.

"I was screaming...throwing my arms up...'You're dragging him' I said," Amanda told us.

State troopers tell WTOL 11 the driver, 19 year-old Shayna Alloway from Green Springs, had just pulled away from a corner store on Broadway Street. They said she told them she never knew Warwick was under the car. The scrapes embedded in the street show just how far, about 90-feet, the boy was dragged.

Amanda's brother Steve Spencer was at the gas station, too, and ran to help.

"My first thought was we've got to lift the van up," said Steve. "I yelled, 'Please lift the van up!' We lifted it up. Amanda pulled this little kid out from under the van," he added.

Warwick was asking questions. "Am I dead? Am I going to die?"

Amanda says she told him, "No."

Warwick was hurt badly, so Steve and another man, Jack Foster from Clyde, continued to help.

"Someone hollered, 'Quick, guys, we need a shirt! We need to stop the bleeding," Foster said.

Steve and Jack took off their shirts and helped get the bleeding under control until emergency crews could arrive.

Warwick is doing better now. Some credit the action of the good Samaritans for stopping the car quickly, getting him out, and treating him right away.

Although, the "heroes" title doesn't sit well with them.

"I just thank God we were in the right place at the right time to help someone out," said Steve.

"Thanks to God he wasn't injured anymore than what he was," Jack told us.

"I would want somebody to act just as quick...without thinking, just as I did," Amanda said.

State troopers tell us they're finishing up their investigation and will soon send the case to the prosecutor's office to see if the driver will face any charges.
