that needs help finding a shop where they know how to adjust his idle speed, timing and tune the carburetor. I learned all this my first month in Auto Shop in high school before I even had a driver's license.:yesnod:

Maybe I should come out of retirement.:shots:

Idle is a screw
Timing is straightforward
Carbs can be tricky. Especially if you are dealing with a 4 corner idle circuit (4150) and a rowdy cam.

If the guy is close to you, why not do him a solid?

I'm about 150 miles away. I also no longer own a timing light.

True, but with a screwdriver and my ears, I can at least improve the performance of just about any carb. :yesnod:

I once rebuilt a Rochester Quadrajet on my kitchen table. I ended up with a few extra parts, and the damn thing never ran right after that.

The best thing to do with a Rochester Quadrajet is to toss it into a large, deep body of water.:yesnod:

It never ran right before you "fixed" it.

Lars over 'there' would strongly disagree, and I have fixed/o'hauled many of them, decades ago....about 12 years ago I still had a fresh one hanging on my garage wall, sold it......:seasix:
