News tonight with a blurb about all sorts of firms from pizza joints through Ammozone delivering orders via drones......but the question is.....
they drop the package in the yard.....but what about rain?? or wet grass soaking the box?? how in hell to get package under the roof over the front door/patio?? supposedly they hover and drop it on a string.....not going under the roof then, for sure....
anyone??:lol::issues:

Possibly they could do what they do with your newspaper. Wrap it in plastic.

The idea appears to be you meet the drone outside and it hands the package off to you. I guess the app you use to order tells you when the drone is hovering in your yard, sending live video and sound of your entire neighborhood unsecured over the airwaves. Sounds like a really excellent idea to me who loves whatever shreds of privacy I can still summon, let me tell you!

This is a non-issue unless they have special drones that can fly in the rain.

Our overlord, Amazon, will control the weather.

Gimmick. It will happen in Silicon Valley/San Francisco neighborhoods where douche bags will wait 9 hours for something to be delivered that a person could do in 2. There are just too many variables to overcome for it to be efficient in the near future.

What about places like Seattle where it rains 9 months out of the year non-stop? :rofl:

Oh great.
Here's how you greet the drone:

Exactly what I was thinking!:seasix:
A good shot with a pellet gun (very quite) could easily take a drone down and grab what it was transporting. It sounds good when you see this on the TV, but in real life it could turn out to be a Charlie Foxtrot!

The French are training eagles to attack drones. Our island has a substantial population of ospreys as well as other raptors. Not sure how they will take to drone influx.

I'm thinking 6mm airsoft ammo, full auto should be devastating and almost zero worry about where and how the projectiles will land. Some are even biodegradable so no worries about plastic contamination in the environment. I had a mid level M14 model which was realistic, and accurate enough to practice real marksmanship skills. I let a nephew talk me out of it to my regret.
