Honestly found it from the NCM events page when they posted BRII, joined up and went to BR, have had a great time ever since!

Beadist, (you long timers remember her?) invited me to join way back when. I knew her from another forum and as she came from not too far from where I now live took her out for a couple rides and to a couple local restaurants. She used to come up her to visit family and we would get together for a few hours.

All on the up and up she met my wife a couple times and as my wife has gone to Carlisle and other Vette shows she knows there are many woman Vetters.

I read a lot of back and forth infighting and name calling between well.....you know who, and you know the other guy, and then there was the other guy.........had to laugh. Never saw so many keyboard commando's of meaningless drivel in one place, thought I'd hang around.

in every group, there is that one guy (it's normally a guy) that needs just a little extra time to complete a simple task, who needs things explained just a bit slower, and sometimes twice before he gets it.

he's not an idiot, but his brain works at 50Hz, while the rest of the world is buzzing along at 60 Hz. his gears aren't quite lubricated fully, they have a little grit in them that is just too hard to remove.

but his friends really like him for who he is. he's nice, he's kind, he's generous. he only says nice things, and often 'mature' jokes go over his head, but he laughs along anyway, so he fits into the gang.

My exit was precipitated by Liz posting pictures of a party at IC's place. They banned her for it. Some of us took exception. I made a couple of rather pointed posts about that being very heavy handed. Received a PM from a mod advising that any future posts would be suspended for review/approval by a mod before they would actually show up. I told them what they could do with that and the ban hammer dropped. Had been there just shy of 10 years.

My story cliffs: constant trolling by a member there, got tired of not responding. Was banned 30 days for responding by trollers buddy. That member continues to troll/cause drama/pot stir daily and given a free pass.

I knew a few locals who were members here. Don't recall if IC invited me or if it was someone else but I was around in time to attend the inaugural Barn Raising at IC's.

I never stirred the pot at CF and don't here; never banned or even close, though I did provide encouragement to BB and IC to take that picture.

I suppose at one of the CF cruise inns some 20 years ago, I have briefly met a few of you all......

I started my own forum and a lot of the regular posters joined and it was good for a while but eventually most of them went back to the site they supposedly hated. I guess the drama they claimed was BS was in reality more fun than actual on-topic stuff.

I ended up perma-banned because once they saw I had my own reasonably successful forum I had a big target on me.

CF kinda reminds me a bit of that forum; mods messing with people just because they can...then deleting posts, closing threads and handing out infractions if you speak out or dare to challenge them.

I second everything you said. I also think the single most consistent factor with forum BS is some quite simply take an Internet forum AND THEMSELVES WAY TO FING SERIOUS. If your not happy in your job/life/family etc and find your existence is justified/defined in an Internet forum chances, those people will take things way to personally.

We often joke about thinned skinned people here, but people with known psychological issues probably need to step away from the keyboard when it’s obvious they are getting way to wrapped up in an online interaction.

Our interactions here are a destress mechanism for me and I spend most of my time laughing. I also enjoy a good debate. There are those of you that I have met and do consider many of you friends and care about you and yours.
