...and I'm kind of freaking out. :willy: It's going to be outpatient back surgery, no big deal, but the thought of going under terrifies me. In the past, I have been hard to "wake up." Prayers and happy thoughts would be appreciated.

I'm the opposite. The idea of being awake for anything terrifies me, so put me under! I don't even like thinking about what they might have to do, or what might go wrong. I would have a more difficult time getting a procedure done, if they didn't put me under!

ask them to use Propofol... aka "the milk". There is no jet-lag feeling when you come out of it. Wonderfull stuff.

How long has it been since you have been under? The current anesthetics are REALLY good now and you pull out of them much faster. I had surgery in July and it was CAKE easy out easy back it's all good. Good luck BB.

You got this!
IB4SeaSix offers to wake you up for half price by smashing a paper bag full of air right next to your ear.
Seriously, though, it's going to be fine. You'll do fine.
Also seriously, do NOT let Sea Six wake you up. He's out of network and it will end up costing you more.

Good news. :hurray: Embrace the pain meds, they're your friend. I used Percocet for a while after some lung surgery ~25 yrs ago. I'd wake up pretty much unable to move, take the Percocets, & 20 minutes later, like clockwork, life was good.

Am glad you made it through A-OK :seasix: I understand the anxiety of going under all too well. :yesnod:
Years ago they had to give me something for my heart to get going/pump as it wasn't doing it so well on its own when coming out of it. :ack:
My latest surgery (Dec 2017) was also outpatient but apparently I full-coded and had to be resuscitated...ended up having an extended stay in the ICU after that experience. Freaked out a bunch of people...
Needless to say, I hope I don't need any more surgeries as I'm not so sure I'll wake up :willy: think I have bad reactions to the anesthesia and/or nerve block

I remember you going through a medical crisis, how scary! And it was out-patient? I’m so glad I didn’t read this before my surgery!

I should have already had a colonoscopy, which I have put off, my knees are shot, and my Dr. already wanted to send me for back surgery. Except for the colonoscopy, I will have to be in way worse shape than I am now to go under the knife. I know things are relatively safe these days, but then again, weird stuff happens like it did to you. Yeah, a full code is not a good thing. I'm certainly glad you recovered well.:seasix:

If it's any consolation at all, I woke up just fine after my colonoscopy :seasix: think those drugs were less invasive...
Don't put that off, colon cancer is a shitty way to go (no pun intended)...my Dad is about 20-25 yrs overdue for one and going through it now...
