Excuse me for being blunt. Make America and safe fund the border wall. YOU and your fellow democrats are fully responsible for the shut down.
By you NOT supporting a border wall, you are further encouraging and promoting human trafficking, more drug deaths and more stolen taxpayer money spent on CRIMINALS who came here illegally.

Serious answer: He probably didn't have the votes to just ram it through as a single item bill. Flake, Collins, Murkowski, Sasse, McCain......plenty of no votes to sink it in the Senate, even with the nuclear option. That's on the never Trumper Republicans, who really don't want a wall anyway. Maybe he didn't want to try and fail.

The wall is actually directed in EO 13767. The wall is already on the books; all the current activity is about how to pay for it. I'm not sure he could get a majority decision with any party make-up to agree where the 8 - 20 $B of discretionary funding would come from, as they surely don't want to raise taxes to fund it.

Representative Olson, I encourage you and your fellow Republicans to stand with Trump on the shutdown. There really is nothing else the House should be doing other than approving wall funding. Nothing. I ask you to either NOT vote or vote present on anything that comes up in the House. In other words, there's no point in doing the rest of your job until you get the very basic task of getting wall funding approved. Without that, what really is there to do? Nothing. Thanks for your consideration.

While the government is "shut down," I encourage you and your fellow Senators to make good use of your time by confirming Trump's picks, both his judicial picks, and his staffing picks. It's unconscionable that two years into Trump's term, he still can't get people approved. Your governing body is responsible for making it impossible to get rid of Jeff Sessions, the least you and your fellow Senators could do now is support the president.
You have absolutely NOTHING to do except approve appointments and judges until the House delivers wall funding. Do NOT consider anything the House sends you until they can get that done. Stand strong on this.
