that at last night's hospital Christmas banquet (we didn't go) I was named volunteer of the year. It's a great honor, but...

The last four out of five volunteers of the year died within a year of receiving the award.:yesnod::leaving:

I guess I haven't been looking too well lately.

My wife is having hip surgery soon and is going through a great deal of pain. She didn't feel up to going and I would not have felt right about going without her. We usually do attend. Fact is, she should have won this award years ago and was a finalist in 2016.
Congrats, and RIP.

Mostly what I do there is exactly what I'm doing now. Sitting there playing on the internet in between greeting surgical patients and giving people directions to the bathroom.

Difficult part is being there at 5:30 am to do it.

I wonder if they would let me put out a tip jar?:hide:

Yikes. Sorry to hear about your wife.

:sadangel:

Thanks. She'll probably be okay, they did an MRI and it's basically a tendon problem, so not a hip replacement. Hopefully arthroscopic surgery with a quick recovery.

Sorry to hear about your wife, but it sounds like she will be OK. Also, in before Sea Six offers to do her operation for half price.

Will you tell yourself when she goes in for surgery, out of habit?

I'll do it for one-fourth price. They're both volunteers.

She should totally go in wearing a habit.

Throw them for a little loop, as they say.

I'm thinking a mid-late 60's model. Like Sally Field wore in The Flying Nun.
