No, not with all the new stuff like LSD:D around.
I had them in four of my Vettes the only one that worked reasonably well was in my 98.( the dealer replaced the gears in that one under warranty!)

That worm has turned.
Mid engine. New headlight technology. Etc.

I think this is why the C5 will always be a fav; last bastion for the pop-ups.
And, the C5 was the first Corvette into modern design; hydroformed frame, rear transaxle, very aerodynamic, LS1/6...

Had a C5 and liked the looks of the lights but they were so poor compared to modern LEDs or even the C6 HIDs. Recently totaled our Acura with LEDs and looking for a replacement. Will not buy a car without them now.

They also add weight. That was one of the considerations on the C6. It wasn't just a styling decision.
and raise the Cd slightly when in use.
weight, space, complexity.....

I'm old enough now that when I drive at night, I'm not interested in maximum performance, rather, just making it home in one piece. Drag coefficient increase? Not such a big concern anymore.

Had I not lost the lights 20 years ago to some damn deer at night, I would have put the rectangular bulbs in the car now, mounted forward and hole smaller by some 50%, they be in the OEM flip up's maybe modified, but only pop up about 1/2 as far.....:seasix:

I believe that Tadge referred to them as "air brakes".
That being said they're super cool on C5s

I was never a fan of the C5. Hate the rear view. Love the C6 styling, and yes, love the C4's. Had five of them so far. C6 will likely be the next Vette.

I really liked the C5 all around and loved that they were the last of the hidden lights.....I wish I could have kept it but things change.......as long as the new owner is happy with it that's great.
