Has anyone used this type mount and how do you like it,I'm tired of the suction cup type and coming out to the car and seeing the detector hanging from the cord.http://i757.photobucket.com/albums/xx217/bucwheat706/X-1286.jpg

normally, when mounting a radar, you have to make sure there is enough clearance and proper grounding so that other electronics do not produce emi harmful to the sensitive waveguides.
as for radar detectors, I can't really say one way or the other.

I have something similar to this and love it.

I forget where I got it from but there's a post showing how a guy made his own here (http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-corvette-general-discussion/2758752-radar-detector-mount-home-made-improvement-over-original-pics-included.html).
It mounts to the screw for the visor clip. The higher the better. Plus it makes it more discreet than the one you posted.

I have the blendmount. A bit pricey, but it is a quality piece.

I have a V1 detector and replaced the suction cups on the mounts from some I found online and they never fall. I also don't leave it up when parked so the sun can destroy them.

I've got that mount in my Z06. No problems with it at all. The installer ran the cables hidden so it's out of the way and does it's job.

I had this in my c5 -- it's a cheap piece of metal that's threaded on one end. The threads broke off the rod, inside the mirror where it screws in. It's on my list of things I need to fix...I'll have to use an easy out and drill it out.

Sears has a real nice set of bits that are a drill on one end, and a easy out on the other. They work extremely well.:yesnod:
