SHOOT ME. For the love of god, if you're considering it, DO NOT PROPOSE. Stay unmarried forever, or, if you must, then just elope. Don't invite anybody.

They dont tell you this, but I'm telling you now, a wedding is not about the bride and groom, apparently it's all about keeping the families happy and doing what they want!

YOU'VE ALL BEEN WARNED!

I'm going to get drunk :leaving:

Perzactly. A wedding is a loud party that costs too much. A marriage is a shared journey that makes your life richer.

Look- you aren't getting it. The wedding is all about your wife to be and her mother planning a big party. Your only job is to show up- and stay the hell out of the way until that time comes.

what you're all misunderstanding is it's NOT my future bride who is doing ANY of the bitching... its our mothers and sisters causing the issues by getting their nose into it and trying to change OUR plans (that we agreed to together, the two of us).

My future wife is the one trying to calm me down

We eloped to Hawaii. Hired a wedding planner to set up a simple ceremony on the beach. Took my sister and my daughter with us and that was it. Easy.

That's one of the cool things about being a guy: wedding plans just get done! We show in time to do the deed.

Remember, the wedding is for the bride. The honeymoon is for the groom!

If you can get away with NOT getting married though, I would highly recommend it!

My only input into my wedding was that the bar stays open during dinner. Since my FIL is a big drinker that wasn't an issue. Although nobody believed it when they were told and stocked up before dinner. This may have been a contributing factor to a lot of people being really fecked up!.

Here's what my wife and I did. We basically "eloped" to Maine to get married. The only ones invited were were the parents and the one remaining grandmother.

NO brothers/sisters/cousins or any body else.

We were married by my childhood best friend ( he's an ordained minister ) over looking the Atlantic Ocean where the York River flows into it.

The next day we flew to the Bahamas for our week long honeymoon.

Total cost ( 1999 ) was under $4k ( we paid for her parents to fly up to ME from PA ).

No extra bullshit with those "extra" women trying to upscale YOUR wedding at YOUR expense.

Key phrase for your sweetie to say to the other six Exactly who is getting married here?

Good luck
