As we watched from the flag tower, Pilgrim lit the Chevy’s fuse, the V-8 snapping at the sky like glory as he ran out the half-mile straight. By Turn 10, the car’s hazard lights were flashing. It wasn’t until he returned to the pits that we figured out why. The repeated, abrupt change in lateral g force was enough to trick the car’s OnStar system into thinking Pilgrim had collided with something. He spent the lap yelling over the screaming exhaust, trying to convince the nice lady on the other end of the line that he was just fine, all while on his way to a lap of 2:08.77.

Wife called me during a trackday at VIR. I had my phone using Harry’s LapTimer. Car answered the phone and I told wife I was busy and hung up. That was in the middle of the esses.

i think i could cover those 3.15 miles in my truck in under 4 minutes, if the bed is mostly empty. :dance:

You would probably want some weight in the back. Twisty track, although I ain't ridden it yet.

It’s a lot of fun. Technical and great straights. Something for everyone.

So the question is this: How much did the phone call cost him in lap time? :rofl:

it's already 6k+, i'm worried (not really) that added weight would really slow down my glacial accelerations on the straights, and would further burden my breaking at the corners.

:rofl::rofl:

high center, heavy, narrow tires, front heavy/rear wheel drive....what could go wrong. oh, really bad aerodynamics too. :slap:

You should. VA was my home when I was racing. The flow of that track is incredible. Very little violence, but lots of places to get faster with smoothness.

That's less than 50 mph pace. I know I could do that in my F-250 Diesel on that track. Tires would be screaming, but well within reason.

Think he was talking about NCM racetrack, which has lots of twisties and lots of places to lose time.
