So the lease was going to run out on our 2015 Nissan Sentra. We went back to the same dealer, turned it in and leased another new Sentra almost exactly like it. Same color, only difference is the new one has alloy wheels and a better stereo. I guess we must have liked the old one. It has been a very good car for what it is.

If not for the temp dealer paper plates, the neighbors wouldn't even know we got a new car. Such is my current life in (or out) of the car hobby.:leaving:

I just thought I would post this to make the other thread about buying a C4 that much more exciting.:D

If I may ask, what do those lease out for?

Three year lease that allows 12K miles per year, around 250 a month with nothing down. In my case they waived the last two payments on my current lease. This is not exactly a gift, because they are getting the car sooner with less miles, so it is worth more than it would be if I kept it two more months and put a few thousand more miles on it.

They were a little less willing to deal in July than they were last time in September, when the 2015 essentially was a one year old new car. We just wanted to get it done.

We also looked at Toyota Corollas which I consider one of the most hideous cars ever built. They seemed under powered compared to the Sentra, and to get keyless ignition and satellite radio, you have to buy a much higher trim level than the Sentry which took the MSRP over 23K. Similar situation with the Honda Civic. The Civic was a very nice driving car, but the infotainment system in them is a real clusterf'k for a couple of old farts like us. Way too distracting to just turn the radio or the climate control on, and lacking a simple volume knob for the stereo. On the Sentra I can operate any basic function without taking my eyes off the road.

I forgot to mention my new Sentra also has climate control which the other one didn't. That and the alloy wheels on the trim level I got tell me the car was possibly a special order which the customer bailed on. I've bought several cars where that was the case. They are common on lots in California because here by law any deposit on a vehicle must be refunded fully at any time on demand. That's why dealers don't like to order cars here.

Wait. Whut? Are you telling me you had a car with no a/c? Do they even sell those? In Houston, a car with no a/c probably wouldn't even be saleable.

It had air conditioning with manual controls, but the new one has automatic climate control with dual zones. You just set the desired temp and it turns on and off automatically when needed. Something I can live without, but it's nice to have.

I did something similar. Sold my 2008 Avalanche and bought another Avalanche... a 2012.

It was great in that I didn't have to relearn anything; interior, gauges, seats, radio all the same.

They both were the lower trim version, though GM added a few things in the '12: bluetooth for the radio and retractable mirrors. The 08 tranny was a 4 speed auto, the 2012 a 6 speed.

Felt right at home when getting into the 2012 for the first time.

17.40 @ 81 mph. I'm sure your Corvette is faster, but I'm just as sure you don't get 43 mpg on the freeway. :D

Be honest, that 17.40 is faster than you thought, isn't it?

It should be noted that the CVT isn't made for the best acceleration. It actually has a little trouble keeping up with flat out acceleration. It's built for fuel economy, and it delivers in that area.

17.40 sounds like a full week. My C6 coupe got 30 mpg on highway, not to bad. Race car gets 4 mpg around town. 2.4 mpg on race day. :leaving:

My C6 coupe got about 28 on the hwy, but that's because we only have 91 octane here. State politicians are too stupid to realize that lower octane means less gas mileage. Just to see what would happen I ran a tank of regular 87 in it once and while the ECM made the proper adjustment and it ran fine with no knocking, there was about a 15% loss in fuel economy. It was cost effective to buy premium.

Not bad, when my tuner ran some logs he figured I was cooking up a gallon per 1/4 mile run.
4 gallons per mile

I dated a girl in college that had a 'vette with no a/c and manual transmission. It was a Chevette, and she was from Montana, where I guess a/c isn't as crucial.

I had a '78 T/A 6.6. Manual transmission, Black exterior, Black vinyl interior, no A/C.
Maybe it's the fact that I'm getting old and can't stand the warm
weather any longer, but it didn't seem to bother me back in the 80s/90s.

The new car is even more enjoyable now that I found a 16 year-old to figure out how to connect the Bluetooth to our cell phones.:yesnod:
