How long ago? Mine is an inch long and 3/4 wide. It’s been ripping upward for a few months.

I don’t share for sympathy. I just needed to vent. Why does this shit happen to me? I’m really getting worn down by my body failing.

That said, you know all of us want the best for you, and the best outcome that we all hope and pray for. My dad had one fixed with the mesh last year, I’m not sure how big it was but I know it was large and he let it go for a long time. The doctor was amazed he put up with as bad as it was, but he’s a tough dude!

I know you've been through quite a bit too. Your words and thoughts mean a lot to me.

It's starting. I've been researching this disease for about ten years (diagnosed 12 years ago) Looking at the stats, the incidence of surgeries will increase. Infections increase. I've gotten this far without the knife (at least until October when I had my first major surgery and the first time I've had septicemia - that's what 95% of Crohn's patents die from.)

This latest problem is a complication of that surgery. The odds are very high I'll have another obstruction at some point and I'll have another section of gut removed. Thus, the cycle will continue until it becomes a quality of life issue.

Then I'll decide what my limits are. So far, I'm well within them. I can handle it. (with much complaining).

One common thing with Crohn's is losing eyesight. Mine is deteriorating faster than just age. Luckily I don't have to look at the guitar neck to play it.

Thanks. You guys have been a lifeline for me. I lurk every day but for some reason don't have much to post. I don't feel silly too much anymore. Every day is hard now. I'm tired. Work takes everything I've got by 4pm or so, there is nothing left.

I never see my son anymore. He has his own life. He and his mom spend time together traveling to explore caverns, hiking, kayaking - I'm not strong enough to participate.

She has some wonderful selfies of her with him where he is genuinely smiling. All his smiles with me are fake. Mom's the friend. I'm the absentee enforcer.

I'm still super proud of him. Here's a still from a movie he's in that just wrapped shooting "Beneath" - a horror film set in a cave.
