This is where your Vette and Truck Engines come from.
I pass the plant every time I go fishing in Lake Ontario for salmon.
Good news for the plant my father retired from. :seasix:

8-6-4 was almost as bad as converting Olds 307s to diesel. I hope the newer engine operates seamlessly.

My wife's "new to us" 07 Tahoe with a 5.3L switches between 4 and 8 cylinders. If you don't have that on the display, you'd never know. :seasix:

Think red light, or waiting for a train to go by...
Hauling Sea Six's trailer? Not so much

My '72 vette has a roller '89 truck block 355 engine, L98 heads and highly modified '94 LT1 injection with HEI up top where God intended as we all know that electrickery and watter don't mix well....
SO when doing all that wiring change from the older L98 that was in it, I accidently left the grounding wire off the left/driver bank of injectors.....and the silly car ran pretty damn decent, considering....even at highway speeds, of course it was easy noticed in traffic...DUH!!!! BUT HERE IS THE QUESTION
I had at one point played with going from bank one/bank two on each side of engine, and rewired it to 7218 on one 'bank' and 4365 on the other, engine fired up and ran the exact same.....
SO the question is....now to interrupt the power to one bank of injectors on every other batch?? so if I kill 7218 on one go round, I obviously need fire 4365 on the other go round....but to keep it even, how can I fire 7218 the next time?? hate the thought of not keeping everybody happy....
OR maybe better off with one bank and then the other as per stock setup??
killing one bank then the other.....trick is, to sequence the crap correctly, and I really don't want to go other than speed density...so no MAF but a later computer would be a PIA to wire in, much less later sensors....?? I just use one O2 sensor on the pass side
how does the LS computer do the job???

I just bought a new 2018 Tahoe. It does the same thing.

Is it noticable??
We rented a brand new Ford SUV, whatever the hell it was, and it was totally irritating when you drove up to a red light.
It felt and sounded like it stalled out, but it didn't
IMO you shouldn't notice when it goes down cylinders into gas saving mode.
We Beat the hell out of it because of that... :D

With the 07, I didn't know it was working until I brought that display up on the dash. Smooth as can be :yesnod:
It works too. Mary was commenting on how long a tank of gas lasts now.

I wonder if it's a Ford thing, and the Chevy's are ahead of the curve.

Charger does the same thing as the Chebbie, and you don't notice it unless you bring up the display.
My Cruze shuts off the whole engine at stop lights, with automatic restart when you take your foot off the brake. It's a little annoying in stop and go traffic, but with a light foot and practice, you can generally keep the engine running during stop and go traffic.
I imagine what you save on gas you'll spend in the long run on rebuilding the starter motor.
Having said all that, it gets mid to high 30's in mixed traffic, and a real 40 mpg on the highway, so I'm happy.
