I'll say first that my first John Deere was a piece of shit. It came from Home Depot, (yes, I know they are bottom of the line) but it has a 24 horse Kohler command engine, etc. I figured it would last a minute. Turns out the hydrostatic transmissions on these things are sub standard to say the least. I found this gem on Craigslist not too far from me. It has mostly been restored, new paint, motor runs like a top, and I'm pretty sure the mechanicals have for the most part been gone through. To say it is nice is an understatement, and as all of you know, just like the Cub Cadets of yesteryear, they really are built to last forever. The 210 of course is the 10hp, sleeved Kohler engine, and it has a real clutch, brake pedal, the speed variance lever which I couldn't believe how that thing made it take off. PTO is all mechanical, and works as advertised. I am tickled pink with it Oh, and it is a 1978 model, so for 40 years old, I'll go not too shabby.:seasix:

Liking the JD :seasix:

Bought this '05 2 years ago. V-Twin 20hp B&S motor. Love it.

It's got a bumper!

Congrats on your new JD 210 :toast:

Just remember it's a lawn tractor and not a lawn and garden tractor. You run it hard for what it's not designed for and it'll break.

You use it as designed and your kids will be fighting over it :yesnod:

Here's some info on it

In '62 Dad bought a house with 2 acres, all grass PIA to mow had to do it with a rotary mower first summer there.....Next thing was a Panzer all iron grill in front, light blue color, cut down auto diffy in back, and the drive 'clutch' was a movable pulley on a fan belt off the crankshaft so to move the pulley on the long shaft away from the engine to engage the belt ....I used to rev the engine up but good in the assfault driveway.....and jamb the drive lever into full GO, and pull wheel stands with it.....dig two nice tracks in the lawn doing it there.....after about ten years it wore out, and Dad got something similar to above with a hydro static drive.....it was not as effective a wheel stands, but I was more interested in g/f's and hotrods......

Well, I don't have a back 40 to plow, so cutting grass will be its life.:D

That push type reel mower was starting to kill my back. Riding mowers probably haven't made it your way yet. Be patient, they will eventually show up!:D

But don't it destroy the leaves when you cut it that way??
