OK, does anyone even check this forum? :D

I'm one of those people who is big on preventative maintenance and I know all the perils of servicing an automatic transmission, but I'm hoping there may be one or two people still on here who have C6s who can comment on the benefits/risks of having a fluid and filter change done on a C6 (09 LS3).

The car has just over 50K miles on it and I have owned it since 36K. To my knowledge it has not been raced but has seen some spirited driving on the back roads, plus short trips, etc so I'm thinking a service is a good thing at this point.

While the process doesn't seem overly difficult, jack up the trans-axle for access to the pan bolts, normal filter change, refill and let excess fluid drain out while the car is running I am considering having the dealer do it but I'm one of those people who has a hard time believing that they won't screw something up. Am I just being overly concerned that it may mess up the trans or has anyone had issues after service?

Why not take it to a reputable transmission shop and see what they say?

Ask a few challenge questions, get a feel for whether they've done this before. See if they know how to spell Corvette.

I do my own too, I just have that belief that no one cares for my car as much as me. Right now it is the whole process of having it at a set temperature and running to get the level correct. I have a lift so access is not the issue, it just sounds like a PITA.
