View Full Version : Top Gear
Sitting here watching the British show Top Gear. I've watched this show for for the past year of so. I love these guys, they have some interesting info on all makes of cars and they have a lot of fun. If you have cable or access to BBC channel you need to give this show a watch.
I need to add it to my DVR list. I saw the toyota truck they destroyed, burnt, threw it on the ocean and it kept running. That is a truck to buy.

Actually, they hate America, American cars and Corvettes in general. Fun to watch, but how many of us are going to be buying Aston Martins and Lambos anytime soon?

I don't think they hate us. They tease the crap out of us sure. The vette get its quirks we all know this. They point them out but mostly still pick it as the car to buy.
<---- This guys is looking for a DB9.

If I see Clarkson push the back of a Corvette in one more time to point out the poor workmanship, I'll reach through the TV and strangle him.

A country got their asses kicked by rebels and a battalion.
Washington almost loose but came back and kicked some ass.
Without a doubt, GW was the first American bad ass!!!

They do love to poke fun at the us, not doubt about it. The episode where he drives the vette he made fun of it but still complimented on the driveability as well.
Besides, I've been thinking of getting a Ferrari to sit along side my Chevy LUV.:D

You can catch all of the British episodes on Netflix. And don't forget the American version of Top Gear which was renewed for another season.

Why are the streets of Paris tree-lined? So the Germans can march in the shade....
Q: What do you call a French man killed defending his country?
A: I don't know either, its never happened!
Q: Why did the Statue of Liberty take karate?
A: She wanted to be the first French person to be able to defend herself.
Q: What does a French military alliance and a French romance have in common?
A: Both are brief, sordid, and completely meaningless.
Raise your right hand if you like the French ... raise both hands if you are French.
Q: what the Frenchmen can do in 5 minutes?
A: Surrender twice.
Going to war without France is like going to marine boot camp without your Liza Minelli CD's
Q: What is the most useful thing in the French Army?
A: A rearview mirror, so they can see the war.
Q: Why does Nike like the French Army?
A: Because, in war time, they are the biggest buyers of running shoes.
Q: Why do the French have glass bottom boats in their Navy?
A: To see all their other ships.
OK, I'll stop now :leaving:
After Desert Storm in April 1991, the french foriegn legion was assigned to clean the beaches and blow up unexploded ordnance. I was 23, such of big name and they didn't impress me at all. If I remember correctly one frenchy's UO explosion went bad and he went in to check o it. The explosion was delayed... he was killed or killed himself. They finally found out a week after it happened, no-one missed him(I guess).
I got no idea if they went to Iraq. I know there were no frenchies there in 2004. We were in Ramadi by ourselves. We could have use them to clean up the port-a-johns, we ended up contracting some dudes from Holland. They did a good job and perhaps better than the frenchies would have.

Only when he test drove it in the USA, he trashed it when he test drove it the next year in the UK. He did say he would buy it over the big Audi on another episode, but said it was because it was "Brutish and unsophisticated so it was more of a driver's car, but not in the same class as the Audi" and then he pushed on the back to point out the poor workmanship........ again!

Clarkson's schtick gets old but it's still 100x more tolerable than that turd of show Foust is on. Top Gear USA makes me want Lithium.

Come on guys. Give it a season more. It's not that bad. The Alaska truck race was good. Besides, I was in the audience for the season finale, right behind the Buick Roadmaster Wagon. Any car show is better than NO car show.
I didn't even know there was an American version. When does it come on, what channel?

They are on hiatus for now but the History channel owns them and they film right here in SoCal. Local jobs are good for our economy.
