I took the dog out Saturday late morning, and got hit with massive pain in my chest. Went away, but came back in a couple of minutes along with cold sweats. Wife said I looked like I'd stepped out of the shower. I mentioned to her not to panic... but best roll me down to KaiPerm's ER ASAP (they're only 4 miles away). Sure enough, when I get there, admissions nurse took one look at me and said "Get a wheelchair and page the Cardiology Unit!
Sooo... two days later... I feel great, am at home, look like a human pincushion, and have a pack of meds that looks like a small pharmacy. Thank God for good Health Insurance. Seems I'll be taking a couple week unscheduled vacation and some Cardiac Recovery Therapy.
Ya never know... I feel damned lucky.

Hope every thing is okay. Rest well and get better soon.:seasix:
Sounds familiar.
I got 5 days in the ICU.
And later a pacemaker at 49 years old. :faint:

Glad everything is okay. For now......
None of my business, but did they come to a definite diagnosis of what happened? I almost lost my mother in 1998 to a massive heart attack. She had symptoms of heart trouble but her shitty Dr. never ran the right tests.
I don't mean to be negative, but I have learned not to just trust doctors and take their word as gospel.

:yesnod: STEMI (acute heart attack). Got into ER in time, or I wouldn't be typing this. Aortic stent... good times.

Glad to hear you're still on this side of the dirt!
Six years ago, I had chest pains, and got to ride in the ambulance. On the way, they were treating me as if I had a heart attack, but I wasn't responding. Turns out, I had a pulmonary embolism. Could have been just as deadly.
Speedy recovery!

So glad you are OK.
You did the smart thing and went to the Doctor. Way to many don't and die needlessly. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Whoa....
That sounds inconvenient. :ohnoes:
Glad you're here to type that and it didn't happen while you were away.
You're a lucky guy.:cert:
Damn, glad it it turned out OK, but it might be time to give up the hookers and blow lifestyle. Well, at least the blow! :seasix:

Would you be so kind as to detail any symptoms that you had prior to the event for us stiffs that are approaching that "age" ?
Also detail the symptoms that you experienced during the event so that it may help one to recognize what is happening to them, like you did.

for a few weeks ahead of when i went to the ER, i was short of breath, sweated more than normal, peed a lot, and generally felt lousy.

Hmmm.
Any pain that you can remember ?
Short of breath? Did you smoke at the time?
I don't, so that would be a great indicator, I would think. Sweating as well.

Imagine lying down and having someone put about a 100 lb rock on the center of your chest. Came on suddenly, abated for a few minutes, then came right back again... only worse. There was less than a five minute time lapse from the moment I started feeling it until we were in the car.
Now I've been criticized for not going to the doctor unless it's a life threatening event. When I asked my wife to drive me down to ER, she didn't question a damned thing- just grabbed her shoes, keys, and off we went... (like a bat out of hell).
Events prior- nope. Just finished cleaning house, as a matter of fact. Literally got up from the chair and WHAM!
(Oh, and I smoked... past tense. This was a good wake up call.)

Wow... No pre-curser.
That's scary.
Thanks for the description.
Dab too. :seasix:
as far as they could tell, i never had a heart attack, but at one point in the ER, they did a blood test (don't recall what it was), and the result indicated that i may have had one. normal was like under 100, and my test was about 1600+.
we had been shopping, were headed back home, and normally stopped at DQ to get a blizzard, but i said i didn't feel like that that day. short time later, Mrs. DAB insisted we go to the ER.
ok.....
saved my life.

Glad you're still here Bear!
My FIL had a major heart attack last night. My wife is on her way up now, I'll follow on Friday unless things make a turn for the worse. We are worried about him since he lost consciousness. I'm told the "widow maker" was completely plugged.
