I have yet to see an internet political debate on ANY topic that didn't degenerate into name calling, complete ignoring of relevant arguments and defense of a position by telling the opponent that if they didn't like it they should lump it until the next election cycle.

Give me someone in there who doesn't immediately run to equate the conservative position as a lockstep agreement with Glen Beck or the Fox News tribe or see the liberal position as mindless puppets of Reid, Pelosi and Obama, and MAYBE there could be some discussion. But I doubt it. Debate is history and the stuff of Lincoln and Douglas and Webster. Now its redirecting, spinning and deflecting instead of intelligent discourse.
