The UN is full of USA hating people representing USA hating countries that love to leech off the USA. They are stupid for poking the golden goose.

:iagree: The money was originally "gifted" to help them see things our way.
Don't agree with our stances? The wallet snaps shut.

Half those that voted against us were muslim dominated countries.
OK, I get that, but our so-called allies that we've always bailed out, voted against us too.
I suspect a lot of it was due to the oil cost that they are paying the ragheads, along with handing over their balls to the liberals and muslim inflow, which is refueling anti-semitism in Europe.
285 mil is not that much on the world stage, I doubt that it is going to make that much of a difference. But still, f'ck 'em.

I agree with OddBall. The amount is a p hole in the snow, compared to all the taxpayer money we dish out to the undeserving. But, the message is the important part. I am happy to see some vestige of sanity returning. I hope it continues, with ever-greater volume.

The US funds slightly more than 20% of the UN's annual budget, including both the diplomatic and peacekeeping missions. That 20% comes out to roughly $3.3 Billion, so the negotiations resulted in a little less than a 10% drop for the US.
How much does the United States contribute to the UN? | PolitiFact Global News Service (http://www.politifact.com/global-news/statements/2017/feb/01/rob-portman/us-contribution-un-22-percent/)

How about dropping all funding and kicking them out of our country?

Pull out of the U.N. and let them fend for themselves.

Could certainly be put to far better use than it currently is...

Not just pull out, but take away the building and not let them do anything here except for an official visit with our government. They should be treated as a representative from a hostile country.

No doubt, all that waterfront property in NYC has to be off the charts expensive in the real estate market. :yesnod:

I've always said we should turn that building into the world's largest strip club..

I hope the lease (at market rate) is considered part of our contribution.

To put it into the most basic of examples, imagine there was a family in your neighborhood who openly hated you, said the most libelous things about you and your children, and were planning day and night with others in the neighborhood to burn down your home, with some openly talking about killing you.
Would you voluntarily dedicate the most opulent room in your house with the most majestic view possible to host such a family? Would you then neglect your own children so you could also feed the family who hates you while giving them a large percentage of your weekly salary?
How is housing the headquarters for the United Nations in New York City really any different?
