Do you have a "Merlin," a box that receives data from that pacer? My relative has one. It downloads info from the pacer in the middle of the night, sends it to the doctor, so if something serious is going on, the doctor is made aware of it.

If it's 7 years, then he's good to go. 7 years is the life expectancy of most folks having a pacemaker....:leaving:

about 18-24 months of battery life remaining. so maybe next year, or certainly the year thereafter will be new battery pack.

Congratulations on living bionically.
My dad's pacemaker was installed visibly on his left shoulder, a great feature for showing off to female police officers that immediately would become ill at the thought, and hurry him through the roadside stops frequent in Canada, without even checking his license (which had expired for a period of time).
(posted in case this becomes useful information for others).

Maybe the new battery pack will have wireless charging...

i've read about that. that would be cool. no more surgeries. just a recharge every year or so.
mine is quite visible if i pull my shirt back.

How about two charging nipples - one positive and one negative, so you could hook up a car battery.
Sure, you'd look silly when you take your shirt off, having 4 nipples and all...
