This will be my annual PSA for people who still insist on going out to a bar, getting drunk, and who then want to get tough. And yes, there seems to be more than ever of them. The funny thing is, as their numbers increase, their intelligence and physical ability decrease.
If you're still that young (or stupid) here's how to spot the few boxers (or former boxers) out there: They're the quiet ones sitting at the bar minding their own business and ignoring your tough-guy talk, but you have taken offense with their attitude and you got pissed-off because they ignored you.
That quiet one doesn't want to fight you at all. Instead he's hoping you give up on your foolishness. But if you insist, and you won't leave them alone, he will oblige. A boxer fighting an amateur might go easy on you...but don't count on it. The boxer wants to end the fight as quickly as possible, and he will use whatever punches accomplish that.
I am not saying any of this to show you how tough I am--who knows, you might beat me--but not very likely at all. Boxers hit harder and quicker than you could ever imagine. The odds are very good that you will take only one punch. The odds are also very good that you will be seriously hurt.
Look at these pics...and please be sensible:
