The eldest son of Ettore Bugatti, Jean was a French automotive designer and test engineer. Due to his involvement with the family business, Jean was always drawn to automobiles. Unfortunately, Jean was killed in 1939 in an automobile accident while testing the Type 57 tank-bodied racer.

Although Marilyn Monroe would be one of the most famous heartthrobs of this century, she would have no idea at this time in her life as she poses innocently as a 12-year-old at the beach. She shows some pretty good balance by sitting on her toes, too.

Recognized as a film and fashion icon, Audrey Hepburn was one of the most famous actresses in Hollywood's Golden Era. Here she's seen posing on a large fake frog, taking a break from her busy acting career in her prime. She was ranked third-greatest female screen legend in Golden Age Hollywood by the American Film Institute.

Here, Lynda Carter is seen at the 1977 Emmy Awards where she presented the award for Outstanding Directing in a Drama Series. Carter became the world’s highest-paid TV actress during her five years playing Wonder Woman in the 1970s, after becoming a beauty queen, and for being stereotyped as a TV comic-book heroine. She landed the role just as the money saved for acting school was running out. Her face is still used today on Wonder Woman slot machines, digital comic books, dolls and figures.

But back in the 1970’s, for thrill seeking hippies, this was often the preferred method of transport. Nowadays, violent attackers and lessons of not getting in a car with strangers has driven this once lovely tradition off the road.

Grace Kelly starting her acting career very young at 20 years old, but was quick to retire at the age of just 26 when she married the Prince of Monaco to fulfill her duties as the Princess of Monaco. Growing up, Kelly was brought up in an affluent house hold. Her father. John B. Kelly Sr., won three Olympic gold medals for rowing.

When men were men and sports cars weighed three tons.

And during a wreck, the people inside the car were like marbles in a tin can.

I also get a kick of how "boaty" plenty of suspensions were too. One turn to many and a front wheel of the almost hopping car would fold under. :Jeff '79:

That is a Bugatti Royale. A custom job. Probably weighed more like 4 tons.
I have seen a surviving sedan, one of only 5. Gigantic is inadequate to describe it. Enormous maybe. He wanted to out do Rolls Royce. The Bugatti brakes wete a sick joke. It was that son who said” I build my cars to go, not stop.” And he always said the safest way through an intersection was at the highest possible speed. To reduce the time exposed to danger to a minimum.

And she's wearing a wedding band. She married her first husband in 1942, just after her 16th birthday.
