My wife received this letter from SS yesterday, telling her she may be eligible for SSI since she's over 65. (She's 67)

She's been receiving regular SS for 5 years (started early for some extra pocket $$)

Isn't SSI for people who are nearly homeless, broke, etc.? (We're not) Is this letter just something they randomly send out? Anyone else get anything similar? Is someone screwing with her identity? :cuss:

Looks like a form letter.
Key words: "If you are eligible..."

I have no personal experience with this, so take it for what it's worth.

look up the phone number for SS in your area, call that. don't call that number.

found this

Just a wild ass guess but I suspect that someone who has or has had a corvette in the family in recent years will most likely not be eligible.

I checked; the phone #'s are legit. No, I didn't call, nor will I. I'm assuming it's a general purpose notice they send to people. There's no way we're getting any free $ from the govt. :Jeff '79:
