You say "Engage" with a stuck-up British accent.

How do you go faster than light?
If you were on a treadmill moving faster than the speed of light...

"Engage" was for the engines, "Make it so" was for all the other stuff.
I'm sure there were exceptions

Warp Drive is different in that the ship actually is stationary inside of a Warp Bubble, or Wave that essentially compresses or bends the fabric of space. Or something like that.
There is a Mexican Physicist named Miguel Alcubierre that has speculated the idea of Warp based around solutions to Einstein's Relatively Theories (Faster than lgiht travel etc) and apparently it is THEORETICALLY possible, but the problem is something to do with Negative Mass (I think they call this Anti-Matter in Star Trek) and figuring out how not to destroy whatever is in front of The Warp Bubble/Wave.
Warp is essentially bending space...similar concept I guess with Herbert's Dune novels and 'bending' space.

I disagree with that analysis because warp speed is warp speed if NCC-1701 is doing warp 7 and NCC-1701D is doing warp 7 they are at the same speed one does not get there faster than the other unless there is an encounter with the Borg..

The only way to travel faster than light is to bend space or a wormhole...and to date none of this is remotely possible.:D

Seems to be pretty possible though, so many vids of UFO's going impossible speeds. Could be swamp gas though.

I've been working on a warp drive in my garage for a few years, when I'm done I'll let you know.
multi-verse, wormhole, string theory....
i'm not buying it.
