Let's hear the story about how you met your current (or last) significant other.

For me, it was at work. She worked in the same building down stairs. Her boss got the ball rolling. I asked her to lunch and away we went...

I met her in a bar. The twist is that I was the bartender. It was at the Elks lodge, and I aready knew her parents, who she was visiting. That was almost 20 years ago. Our 16th anniverary is next month.:hurray:

Arranged marriage. Her mother and my father plotted, my father confronted her and got her phone number for me.

The way GOD intended it.

Bar.
funny thing is, I never went to the bar by myself. I was usually invited by a co-worker or someone, but I was sitting home bored, and after 2 hours of trying to figure out what else I could be doing, I walked to the bar.

fate, coincidence, or the devil's handywork? you decide.

Met her in CFOT in one of UD's marvelous threads. (Which happened to be about Match.com)

Everyone was posting a link to their profile, and I posted mine. Next thing I knew, she was stalking me.

I guess you would not call it "conventional" or "normal" but I met my girlfriend through BlackBerry Messenger.

She saw my username and a post made by me in a car section on CrackBerry.com. She added my PIN and we started chatting. We chatted/texted on the phone for 5 months before we did a face to face meet. I drove all the way to Tennessee to see here.

We hung out for the weekend. I knew before hand I could not let her get away, I came back a month later (around Christmas) made things official and gave her a promise ring at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse in Knoxville to show her how serious I was.

We've been dating a little over 3 months now and I cannot refute that we were two people made for each other and fate brought us together.

Congrats bro.

Friendly advice: supplement fate with a solid pre-nup agreement. Don't take offense. I advise everyone to do it, even my best friend and my brother.

Blind date.

Buddy of mine had a gf that wanted to double date, but had to find someone for her friend. After one bad experience with this......I said hell no.
He whined and begged 'cause he didn't have any reliable wheels, so I made him throw in a bag of weed.

Married her the following year.

College, no go with any chick there, not interested anyway.....
In/out of the Army in one month....'66...no action there of ANY kind....

bummed around jobs and country during my 'hippie years'....did nothing solid, plenty of 'relationships' with plenty of women, but nothing that made it for me....

went to some singles club in DC, met my first ex.....lasted total of 3 years....

moved into an apt. in Md, just outside DC.....met the kid's mom....lasted a total of 11 years...'77-88......

3-4 other g/friends and another house, and moved to Florida, breaking up with the last one, who was a internet 'find'.....she lived in Indiana....

so here in Florida dating another 1/2 dozen or so on and off....

and so met wife here now....on her LAST day for the then freebee sign onto the singles/meet/friend whatever section of Yahoo....so I send this kid a note, she replies, we correspond for a month or so,.....we meet for lunch....

the restaurant had changed from something middle of the road to Mexican.....
the second date was to the movies......

we dated over a year, so one day I asked her what she felt about the relationship...and it went on from there......

married TEN years just last 2/28th.....totally LOVELY woman, great chin rest, fuzzy curly hair...about a foot shorter than me....

granny 14X over....I robbed the cradle...me near 67, her 59....

we spend our time laughing our asses off, trading shots at each other....

:lol::lol::rofl::cheers:

OH, forgot to mention, she don't care for Mexican food......

and she don't care for MOVIES either....must be my overwhelming magnetic personality.....

I met my wife in 1995 at the house she shared with her sisters and mom. They came to this country from Vietnam in 1989. A mutual friend introduced us. I had my first taste of Vietnamese food when they served Pho a Vietnamese beef soup. I liked it and had 2 bowels. We got married in 1996 and I have no regrets marrying her. Before we got married I never even dreamed of going to Vietnam but since we have been married we have made 2 trips to her home country. First trip in 2000 we spent 6 days in Thailand, 3 in Singapore and 3 weeks in Vietnam, Second trip in 2006 4 days in Hong Kong and 3 weeks in Vietnam.

Across the street a few hours ago, I asked my neighbors how they met...they been together 32 years....both have ex's.......but no kids of their own...

now they have some krazy southern life stories about them, but so it seems they are all true....too many times told the same tale....if you get the drift....

so anyway, they met over the large truck parts counters from buyer/supplier...on the phone, and so she goes to his parts house to meet this guy she been buying part from for some time....

and the guys say...look for the pissed off SOB with the cigar in his mouth coming through the doors there, with a pissed off look and shouting....

(if you met Bob, you would know).....at any rate she plays cool and they start to date....

so the story goes....HE remembers honking at some kid setting on her father's porch.....as he passes by....

I personally think the story is BS....because how in hell anyone could remember THAT after 20 years....but Bob and to a certain extent his wife admit it could be true....as Bod recognized her folks place when she brought him to it......

life is stupid some daze......this my best recollection of the story as I can give....

WTF...probability....nearly ZERO on that teenage drive by memory....

At the track.

I had just bought my Mercedes 190E daily driver and the transmission was having some trouble, so I figured I should look into some reliable parts sources. Was at the track and saw a group standing by a 190E drift car, so I went over and asked some questions. Instead of parts I found someone to do the work on my car for me. :leaving:

Oh, 3 years later, the transmission is still going strong. :D

The girl I am with I actually knew in high school back in the late 70's.:seeya: I was a cool 17 and she was a sweet 14. We met through her friend who was also a frind of mine's cousin (August, 1978). They swapped phone numbers and she called me. I became her first real boyfriend she ever kissed! :makeout: Nothing physical ever happened, not that I didn't try. :makeout::slap: I found a girl less predispositioned to slapping and moved on. We remained friends and stayed in touch for a few years, :seeya: then drifted apart in the late 80's. I didn't see her again til Nov '03. She ran into my brother in a grocery store and asked about me. Odd thing is a couple of weeks before he & I were talking about past chicks and whether or not we'd like to see any of them again. I told him I could only think of one, :bilmem: and it was her. He told her I would love to hear from her and gave her my number. She called me a week later. We were both married at the time (her to the guy she dated after me) so we still remained only friends. :shake: A couple of years later both marriages broke up (mine in Sept '05 :kick:, hers in Jan '06 :drunk:) due to problems in both relationships, but not because of us being friends. We started seeing each other a few months after hers crashed :makeout:and finally took it up a notch! :hump: We've been living together since '06. http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc247/badracr/love2.gif

I was out at the shop I shared with a couple friends, adjusting the valves on my V-8 Vega. A buddy of mine showed up with his gf, and her friend...whom I had never met. All I remembered was she was short, and had an amazing rack. She didn't speak or even walk in the shop. They soon "had to go". Later, he asked what I thought of Gail and I asked, "Who's Gail?"

He said, "dude, you're a f*cking dumbass."

He brought her out to where street raced the next night and we got a proper introduction. I quickly got the impression that my life at the time was a little more than what she was used to. I let her know...I drank way too much, drove way too fast and was just as likely to end up in jail as the hospital. She got in my car anyway. Half mile later I told her to get her feet off of my dashboard. Rest of the night was quietly uneventfull.

For whatever reason, she answered my call the next day, came by the parts store where I worked later that week and agreed to go out the next weekend. Somewhere in there I had enough sober moments to realize I was hooked. We dated three years and have been married 27.

I honestly believe that woman saved my life. Now, she is my life.

A bar/restaurant on Lake Norman...just north of Charlotte, NC. I was recently seperated and had moved out of the house that I shared with my then wife. I ran an ad looking for a roommate but didn't have one yet.

I was sitting by myself one night getting ready to eat something and watch the Duke/UNC basketball game and thought to myself..."well why sit here alone when I can go to a sportsbar or somewhere and catch the game there."

I got up and drove to Midtown Sundries on the lake. I was sitting there having a drink and eating some dinner and she walked in and asked if anyone was sitting two seats over from me and I said no. We struck up a conversation and I found out that she worked for a company that my company had oursorced part of Human Resorces to. Later that night I found out she was responsible for part of the compensation area and had access to my pay information...OH FECK !! We exchanged numbers but I didn't call her and about a week later she actually called me.

We went out a few times...started dating some and then broke it off. Several months later she called me while I was out on a date with another girl on my motorcycle...go figure. After I got home I gave her a call back and we started dating again. By this time I had a roommate...a hot little girl from New York. Melissa (roommate) and Renee (now wife) for whatever reason never seemed to get along...that was a bit of a pain in the azz since I was cool with both of them. :D

About a month later I got hit by a car on my motorcycle and got pretty messed up. After being scrapped up and hauled in by the ambulance to a hospital and then loaded in another ambulance and hauled off to another hospital with more/better equipment they were rolling me out of the emergency room area for the first of my many surgeries and what's the first thing I see...Renee...Melissa and my ex-wife Staci all three standing there looking at me but not talking to eachother....I thought WTF... this has to be a dream/nightmare...but it wasn't. :sadangel:

Well...9 days in the hospital...4 months out of work and 9 months on crutches and she stuck with me through all of that. We dated for 4 or so years and then decided to get married. She and I both had been married before so we decided to elope and got married on the beach in Kauai, Hawaii by a Hawaiian Pastor...just us three on the beach...pretty cool. We've now been married 6 1/2 years. She just recently had some pretty major surgery herself and is out of work for several weeks it's now my turn to nurse her back to health. :yesnod: I've got to get her ready for boating and biking season coming up.

By mail. While stationed in Hawaii, she and I wrote and talked on the phone to each other for about 6 months, never having seen each other. When I came home in June, 1986, was the first time we actually physically saw and met each other in person. Was married in September, and still going strong today, 25 yrs later. How we met, my sister and who is now my wife worked together at a law firm. When they stopped by our house, the person who is now my wife asked my sister who was I, told me about it, and asked Deborah, my wife if I could call her. I did, and we have not stop taking since. Oh, might mind you, this was waaaaaaaaaaayyyy before internet. We had to do all of our conversation the old way, write letters, exhchanged a few pics here and there, all clean, and talk on the phone.

At a local pub where I used to hangout with my friends playing NTN Triva. He was with someone at the time - they actually lived the next street up from my parents' house. He and I were good friends for a long time and after things went south with his, at the time S/O, we kind of just got together. Been married for 2 1/2 years now.

CFOT.

We didn't even live in the same state, but he PM'ed me to tell me that he would be in town and asked if I'd like to have dinner. That was almost 5 years ago. The rest is history...

For some of that spicy stuff you NEED 2 bowels. One bowl is usually enough though.

Met my wife on IRC back in 1995.

Was a moderator on a chat channel. She joined and got kicked off by the college turds on there. I just sent her a PM saying we weren't all like that. We talked online for about 2 months before we met face to face over in Las Colinas at Texas Bar and Grill.

Been together ever since.

That was way before meeting on the Internet was considered acceptable. Most of her friends thought she was hooking up with an axe murderer.

Guess it is hip to be a computer nerd. ;)
