The Ford GT went into production late last year, with plans to ramp up output to one car per day until 2020. Unfortunately, GT production has hit a snag after rougly 50 cars have been delivered. Automotive News reports that Ford just sent a letter to GT customers saying their delivery dates have been delayed.

A Ford spokesperson told Road & Track that the delays stem from "several factors, such as global homologation testing and supplier constraints." The spokesperson added that the "issues [in production ramp-up] are not related to specific vehicles."

Automotive News reports that the letter sent to GT customers says "[the] craftsmanship required to build these vehicles for global markets has required that we adjust our original timing projections." The letter was signed by Ford Performance head Dave Pericak and marketing manager Henry Ford III.

Ford also told Automotive News that GT production will soon be back up to speed, but didn't disclose the exact length of the delay. Initially, Ford planned on building 250 examples per year, with production set to end in October 2020.

Having driven the Ford GT earlier this year, we're pretty confident that its future owners will find it to be worth the wait. Hopefully they won't have to wait too long.

The delay was actually a while ago, apparently the media is a little behind.
