LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Caitlyn Jenner has joined the list of celebrities who are considering running for political office in the United States following the election of former reality television star Donald Trump as president.

Jenner, who as former Olympic champion Bruce Jenner in 2015 became the highest-profile American to transition to a woman, said she would decide in the next six months or so whether to run for the U.S. Senate in California.

Jenner told John Catsimatidis on his "CATS Roundtable" New York radio show on Sunday, that she is working with activist groups to improve the Republican Party's stance on lesbian, gay and transgender issues.

"Over the next six months or so I gotta find out where I can do a better job. Can I do a better job from the outside working the perimeter of the political scene, being open to talking to anybody, or are you better off from the inside?

"We are in the process of determining that. But yeah, I would look for a senatorial run," she said. Democratic U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein is up for re-election in California in 2018.

Jenner, 67, is a Republican but in February she criticized the Trump administration for reversing a federal directive that allowed transgender students to use public school bathrooms of their choice.

"From one Republican to another, this is a disaster," she said in a video message to Trump at the time.

The success of Trump, a businessman who found fame through TV reality show "The Apprentice," has encouraged others with no political experience to consider running for office.

Last week country-rock singer Kid Rock, a supporter of Trump, hinted he intends to run for the Senate in 2018 but he has yet to make any official announcement. He has not mentioned where he would run.

Actor and former wrestler Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has said he might run for the White House someday but has not mentioned a political affiliation.

Previous celebrities who made the transition to politics include action movie star Arnold Schwarzenegger, who served two terms as California governor, and professional wrestler Jesse Ventura, who was elected Minnesota governor.

No, you voted for a successful billionaire businessman. Say what you will, one doesn't become a billionaire by luck or through a "Hook up". The tv dealy-o was part of an ego thing. Meh, we all have flaws.

With all the problems in this world that is all IT can improve on!

It's not because crazy people are running for president...it's because one already did.

I know, right?

At least she didn't get elected.

Hell, Reagan was an actor.

If they want to run let them. Let's see how they hold up in a debate. (provided the debate hosts don't spoon-feed the debate to the liberal candidates.)
Bruce...I mean Caitlyn couldn't even hold up to an interview from Tucker Carlson, he sure as hell ain't going to survive in a political debate.

Yes but before he ran for POTUS he had been Governor of California for several terms so he was not new to how government really operates

The one who would have made far more money simply investing conservatively? That "successful" businessman? :confused5:

I fear for this country, I really do. It's not because crazy people are running for president...it's because one already did.

"So this is how democracy dies, with thunderous applause".

That's big talk from you who supported "Aleppo?". Btw, I haven't heard not even one peep from him since Nov 8. If he really was a man for the country, why?

Aside from the political arena, I am concerned with the liberal elimination of the police. They have almost accomplishied eliminating the car chase and the foot chase as to dangerous to the public the perp and the police officer.

All the while overlooking that evading arrest, fleeing from and disobeying a police officer are also criminal offenses - apart from the crime they just committed, I mean allegedly committed.

In what capacity would we hear from him, he hasn't held office in years?

We had two shit candidates, one chosen by their party, one chosen by the populous. Where does the populous movement end? How much worse will our choices become?

When your entire life and your families lives will be picked apart by the media vultures-who will apply ?

I would really love to see someone like Ben Shapiro run. He's not always right, but by the time he gets through making his opponent look like a complete imbecile, it'd be too late to argue the point. Beyond his resolve to be honest and call it like it is; he knows the issues, he knows his argument, and he knows his opposition's argument better than they do. He literally rapid-fires facts at them faster than they can bullshit their way around them.
The big thing about Ben, is that he has taken the time to absorb, digest, and understand the data. He knows what the f'ck he is talking about. Damn near every candidate you see and hear, just spews out pre-programmed pandering rhetoric designed to emotionally masturbate the masses while at the same time feigning "great" leadership. They generally do not have a ****ing clue as to what they are talking about, but have had their writers make their script sound really good. Liberal politicians have really worked the bullshit pulpit to a fine art.

Not saying Ben should run, but at least someone on that level.

Oh, and besides being articulate as hell, he's Jewish. Which would just really piss off the muzzies.

Hey, I'm not his campaign chairman or him so I'm not gonna do shit. If he wasn't a flash in the pan, I might. The independents wait until election time to try to be heard. And that's the problem, imo. They're already behind the curve in recognition. And then ole freeze man there becomes a punch line to jokes. All of that means they'll get less than or equal to one percent of the vote. The solution, imo, is get your name out there way early. How? **** if I know, I'm not a politician. I'm just an asshole with one vote and one opinion. Those two combined with a dollar will get me a soda at the soda machine.

Also, two shit candidates? Well, that's like your opinion, man. My opinion is we had one absolutely corrupt POS and a businessman. Was/is the businessman the be all, end all for all things DC? Hell no. He's another dude that's made business deals along the way. I further suspect not all those business deals would fit the criteria for Ward and June Cleaver. Be that as it may, my choice would still be him all day long over that vile thing in female form that ran against him.

That's cool, he was a better choice than her; that's not saying much. I'm in the same business as he is, I've seen a dozen just like him, I'm familiar with the "model", I know one person who has dealt with him personally in the business. All that lead me to the conclusion, which is now playing out, that he would be completely ineffective as a political leader.

I voted for the best qualified candidate knowing he wouldn't win.

And that is absolutely your choice.

Further, I knew bringing in an outsider to bust up the corrupt DC game would face plenty of push back. I agree that is also playing out.

At the end of the day, I still see the same ole dance with the partners just changing. Example; plenty of evidence people are corrupt and the only thing produced is a bunch of hot air from folks in power that are stomping their feet, raising the voices, and doing nothing else. Too bad, people in this country are suffering due to that dance.
