for my birthday last friday, i decided to buy a Colt Gold Cup for myself. checked 4 gun shops, no one had what i was looking for.

FWIW Colt has reintroduced the Series 70 platform in both standard and Gold Cup guise. My understanding is they are series 80 style guns with the appropriate items deleted making the trigger pull similar to real series 70 pieces. Prices are reasonable, and your local FFL should be able to order one with short lead time. Reviews are positive, unless you want an original series 70; which I fully understand as I love both of mine.
Got one ordered today.
