I took Mary to the eye doctor today and after 3-1/2 hours of various tests, the doctor confirmed that she has cataracts in both eyes.
Surgeries are scheduled May 23 for the right eye and June 6 for the left eye. She decided on just the "regular" lenses as the custom vision correcting lenses start at $2800 each ( out of pocket expense )
I've been taking her to and from work for over three weeks now. It started with foggy or raining mornings to taking her every day. Luckily I work just down the hill from her and my new job working schedule fits in very well. Mary gets to work early and I wait for 20 minutes at the end of the day.

My wife had hers done about 18 months ago. It's a much more routine procedure than it was years ago. As a nurse she remembers when people spent days in the hospital with sandbags around their head to stabilize it after the surgery. Now you go home the same day wearing sunglasses.
Follow doctor's orders to the letter regarding the eye drops before and after and it should go fine. My wife rarely wears her glasses anymore.

Guess we lucky, my wife stated she wants LASIK eye surgery because she hates wearing glasses, especially for driving.....

Dr Posner is head of surgery and explained the surgery.
To simplify, he cuts a 2mm incision under the lense, fracture the damaged lense, remove the pieces and and insert the 10mm diameter new lense into the existing "frame".
Once the eye is no longer fully dilated, it is held in place and heals on it's own.

I had my right done about two months ago and the left will be in June. Easy peasy, no pain, in and out in about two hours. I don't wear any glasses now unless it's sunny.

Mary works every other weekend so I got to get up at 5am on my days off :needcoffee:
At least that way she makes it to work safely. :yesnod:
Mom had this done years ago. It's pretty routine. Bring her in in the morning, you'll be out by noon. Easy peasy.

I go in Friday morning for my other lens replacement. The lights have slowly been going out on that side for about a year now from a slow growing cataract, but more noticeable lately. Looking forward to it. :yesnod:
