It's 13 years old.

No personal experiences but I know a few people who have put 300k plus miles on their Nissans

2004/2005 four cylinder models had an issue where the catalytic converters would disintegrate. Engine valves opening and closing would create enough vacuum to pull particle into the cylinders. This would score the cylinder walls and lead to oil consumption and smoking. With that many miles on it I would say this particular vehicle did not have that issue or has been repaired.
I would strongly recommend checking compression to verify the health of the engine. If compression is good I would change the converter asap. I would also recommend a OEM part if you live anywhere that you have to pass emissions or will be keeping the car a long time. Aftermarket units don't always allow a car to pass, and the lifespan is seldom more than a couple of years.
That being said, the Altimas are great cars. Dependable, comfortable, and reasonable gas mileage. Only real issues they had were the converter/engine issue.

Nissan employee since 1998- tech first, and parts dept. since 2001.

I have a 2008 Altima as my daily beater 130K on the clock. It is the six cylinder and the catalytic converter is toast. Other than that it has been a great car

Bank one (rear)? that's the usual culprit. I have an '01 Infiniti I30 with almost 170k that throws a B1 code every few hundred miles. I just drive it.

Wife has a 1996 Nissan Maxima SE original owner.....64,000 miles.
She doesn't want to get rid of it, she loves it ! And now we can bring it to car shows too ! lol

Mine's not near nice enough to be a show car, but it is clean for a dd. All stock except for a set of 2003 G35 Sport wheels (17x8, 17x9). The G35 is rear wheel drive so the different offset places the wheels almost even with the wheel opening. Looks much more aggressive than stock. 11399

Oh, I've replaced front pads and rotors, lower control arms, and regular maintenance stuff. Still gets 21mpg in city driving. I'll drive it til it dies! Next one I'm gonna try to find a stick car.
