The day has come, after chemo and radiation the cancer finally overcame him. I will be putting him down today at some point where I can find the strength to do it. I'm so heartbroken and sad. Please give your doggies a hug and a kiss from me today at some point. :sadangel::sadangel:

Ouch...:sadangel:
I hate having to do that. It's the only time that I ever cry.
Bummer man.

This just sucks, I'm very sorry.

As hard as this is keep it in the back of your mind this is the last nice thing you can do for him. No more pain, no more suffering.

Many MANY years ago I had to say goodbye to my first Dal. His breeder was there and I was doing my absolute best to keep my shit together. This woman has been breeding Dals since 1962. She has been a mentor. Anyway she said to me, 'Thomas it's alright to cry for dogs.'

And the flood gates opened up.

Peace brother.

Thomas.

I am so sorry for your loss. Our last few dogs we have had to put down were heartbreaking, they were part of our family for over 15 years each.
Very few times I have shed tears in my life, but when we lose one of our pets the flood gates come open.

Very sad :sadangel:

My past dogs will be waiting. They're cool and he'll fit right in. Good times and hard playing over the rainbow bridge. :seasix:

Very sorry to hear this. Been there, done that, and cried the tears.

Just hold fast to the knowledge that you gave your best friend a good life and did everything you could for him.

Thank you everybody for your kind words here is an unexpected update: The oncologist advised me not to euthanize him yet although that will probably be the end result. He advised me that several new chemo drugs are currently out and maybe it will help him. At this point what does he have to lose. I took him to the vet last night and he spent the night there getting IV's. When I went there at 9am today ready to euthanize him he was alert walking around wagging his tail and licking everyone like normal. I have to admit I cried like a baby...It's 330 and I'm headed there to bring him back home till Tuesday when the new drug will arrive. This is heart wrenching. Thanks again everyone and well see where this ends.

That's good news. Good to hear you get to keep Lodi for a bit longer. :seasix:

While it's a difficult decision you were ready to make, you know it's the right one.

Have a drink tonight. You've earned it. Prayers still coming for the both of you. So glad he's still has time to be with you.

Prayers for Kodi, you and your family. I feel your pain. Last year I had to make that decision for my fur babies. So hard and heartbreaking! :sadangel:

Man, other than losing a close family member (human type), the thoughts of having to put my best furry friend down make me cringe. I should have a few good years left with him, but he is getting older at 11yo. He is a mini Schnauzer, so maybe I have some good time left with him. But not only is he family, he is my best bud. I could, and would not let him suffer an agonizing demise. I can not even imagine what you are going through, and my thoughts are with you. I'm glad you are keeping him a while longer, and I'm sure you will enjoy every moment. I hope his health comes back and it is possible for you to have a few more years with your buddy. Hang in there man, and that goes for your friend too.
