Saw my GI today. Sent me to the ER.

I'll be in here for three days. Gawd this sucks donkey balls.

He said he can't believe I walked in to the office in the condition I'm in. Hell I've been working full days.

I told him "hey, you know last time I saw you, you hospitalized me that time too..."

He was concerned I bucked up for a week to wait to see him. (This started hitting 8 on the pain scale about five days ago). But I needed him for the procedure.

The plan is to hit it with steroids to open it enough to do the prep, then do the procedure. Plus Remicade tomorrow at the hospital.

No eating for the next three days. OMFG. I have not has solid food for three days already. That will be six days total. My dick is going to shrink! :ohnoes:

What pisses me off is the CT scan comes back and they say "no acute obstruction" no shit! I'm trying to avoid getting near death. In just a few days, that is exactly what will happen.

This issue has hospitalized me 5 times so far in two years.

My GI hasn't come in yet. He should be here today. To straighten this out.

Same argument about Remicade. I had to cancel it at the cancer center to have it done here. They are like "we don't know anything about it and have to check if we have the drug".

Jesus, people. My doctor and I have a very specific plan. I mentioned the orders were sent yesterday and they replied that "probably someone wrote it on paper and we don't have access to it"

As soon as I get one team of nurses up to speed, the shift changes and I start over. I'm even fighting for simple IV fluids as I am desperately dehydrated AND I'm not supposed to eat or drink. WTF.

I'm scratching this hospital off my list.

Damn, Pete. What an ordeal.

BTW, do you know why doctors and nurses wear masks in the OR?

It's so that you can't identify them in court later. :leaving:

Added one more day to my stay at the Bates Motel. Sigh. Also chewed some ass. In a professional manner. Now they are paying attention.

I'm their worst nightmare. An educated, knowledgeable patient. My GI finally came in today. Remicade tomorrow (they didn't have enough on hand for today) no eating (day 6) and procedure on Saturday at the latest. Possibly tomorrow. Doing prep tonight so no sleep again.

A guy came in the room at 3am, snapped on the lights and bellowed "I'm here to hook up your remote monitor!" He is lucky I don't have my gun. What a moron. I'm dead asleep and he scares the shit out of me.

Bedside manner score = zero.

Then he tells me it's optional. REALLY! And it couldn't wait until morning. Jebus Christ on a Ritz Cracker. (I'm so hungry).

Then my wife took my food stash. :issues:

I've read some of your threads about this, but don't remember ever seeing a definitive diagnosis. Do you have one? If so, what is it? I've lived with Crohn's Disease for over 40 years, and have had obstructions and been hospitalized a few times over the years (most recent was 3 weeks ago). I've also had major surgery once.

From your posts it sounds to me like your Gastroenterologist is incompetent, a quack, or both. If it's Crohn's or colitis it's not all that uncommon and there are several relatively new drugs out there to treat it and keep it in remission. Find another Doc who's competent on bowel disease and get this under control so you can live a normal life.

Sorry to hear. Yes, I was diagnosed 9 years ago. I'm not sure you have the entire story. My Regular GI OF 9 years who has been the best doctor I have ever had I was forced to lose due to Obamacare back in October of last year.

I was left with a single GI who was covered by my ACA plan (that I did not choose) who indeed is a quack and runs a clinic that looks like a third world clinic complete with shop sinks in treatment rooms. He informed me that he knows nothing about Crohn's and is not a surgeon.

In fact I lost my entire medical team I've built over almost a decade. I also lost coverage of Remicade so I missed two treatments. On top of all that I have an incurable form of Leukemia.

My disease was in control (more or less). Keep in mind every case of Crohn's is different, in both severity and where it attacks. In my case, severe and my small bowel. I have 16-20 scar tissue strictures that are physical blockages that become acute about once a year. My GI that you refer to as a quack is the only surgeon in Central Texas that does a non invasive procedure to resolve this (no cutting).

We do it about once a year during my colonoscopy or when it becomes life threatening (like this time).

Your assumption that he is a quack and/or incompetent is based on very limited information on a very complex situation although I appreciate your concern.

My problem is not the quality of doctors. It is 1000% government intervention and incompetence that is harming me.

If you don't mind, please share your situation and experience with this brutal disease. I have been studying it for 8 years and relish the opportunity to talk to others amd compare notes. pm me amd I'll shoot you my number.

Oh, also, I just got out of surgery and had three of the cutest young nurse trainees in my room who googled my name and are big music fans. No pics. Sorry.

All the way. I just got new insurance so I blew the entire deductible in one fell swoop. That's $6,500. Plus three days of billable time at $250 an hour - $6,000 - that's $12,500. More than ten grand.

Now I'll wait them out until they settle since I know they are overcharging me up the ass, so to speak.

Hope everything goes well and you are back on the road again soon.

As for your dick shrinking, just have them tie one of those medical sandbags to your dick with a rope and toss sandbag over the foot of the bed so that it just hangs a foot off the floor. After several days bag will be touching the floor and all the nurses will come in and "examine you." :hurray:
