Shots fired at UK Parliament; officer stabbed and assailant shot, reports say | Fox News (http://www.foxnews.com/world/2017/03/22/shots-fired-outside-uk-parliament-reports-say.html)
A police officer was stabbed and an alleged assailant was reportedly shot after gunfire broke out at the UK Parliament in London on Wednesday.
At least four people were lying on the ground, some bleeding heavily, on Westminster Bridge near Britain's parliament, Reuters reported. It was not clear exactly what happened or how many people were injured.
The leader of the House of Commons said a man had been shot by police. David Liddington also said there were "reports of further violent incidents in the vicinity."
Lidington says the Parliament complex is in lockdown.
London police confirmed officers were called to 'firearms incident' on Westminster Bridge near the Parliament building. No other information was available.
Britain's MI5 says it is too early to say if the incident is terror-related.
Witnesses on scene said about a dozen people were injured on the Westminster Bridge. Another witness told Sky News that there was an "almighty crash" as a vehicle hit the railings outside Parliament.
A witness told Sky News: "Someone rushed through, attacked a policeman... he appeared to be carrying a knife. We heard lots of gunfire."
now wait a minute....they banned guns in Britain long ago, so that was supposed to prevent all types of violent crime and terror.....so obviously, this story is pure fiction. :slap:
how dare the attacker circumvent the good intentions of parliament and use something other than a gun to attack people. didn't he know that crime is illegal in Britain? :slap:

New report out of Washington: Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer are co-sponsoring a bill honoring the bravery of the attacker.
I thought the police didn't carry guns there.

That may be so but what's the first thought just about everyone had...
Given the current situation in the EU community, I know what mine was.
c'mon... your average, broke, hopeless muslim just wants a hug and few bucks, so this is the common way to shake you down for a donation: run you over, stab you, yell something in arabic, and then get shot by the police for not being polite.
politicians: don't worry, gov't will protect you.
reality: you are on your own.

I wonder if he ran down and killed any of the dumb bastards holding "welcome refugees" signs. That would have been terrific. Getcha a dose of it Europe...you've asked for it, and now you are getting it. Hopefully we can curtail the damage already done by letting these animals in our country.
it's tough to stop a car coming at you.

With that scenario, being a dumbass and a pushover bill could be stamped, "Paid".

Yeah, let's base our opinions on single individuals posting stupid shit.
We don't want gun owners judged by this.
We don't want fast car owners judged by this.
Why is it suddenly okay to judge all immigrants by this? :confused5:
Or gay people or anyone different than us.
There are a lot of posters that are haters of most sects of the human race, except their own.
Pretty sad in this day and age.
As far as the US.... Proper vetting for immigrants is all. If it takes longer than they want, tough sh!t.
Hating humans for the color of their skin, their religion, their sexual orientation, their weight, etc, is outright discrimination and should not be tolerated.

I probably have the most diverse set of neighbors on this entire board. All are good neighbors, keep their places clean, and are in most part friendly to each other. If my small area can get along with our differences, anyone can. It's when you have large groups that cling to each other that you run into issues.
Citizenship (to any country) is a privilege, not a right.
If the US (or any country) says "no" that's their right.
Outsiders can complain all they want but tough luck.
We can fix the immigration issue with the following steps:
1. Seal/secure the border (sure it won't be 100% but 90%+ is way better than what we have now).
2. Reform the law to not allow anchor babies.
3. Cut off all the "entitlements" to those illegally in the US.
4. Start arresting and deporting those found to be here illegally.
5. Put a reliable guest worker program in place (for companies/jobs which "need" them)
Do those five things and, IMHO, our illegal immigration problem is pretty much fixed.
Just my .02. FWIW. YMMV.
Until we fix Means tested entitlement program we will always have a illegal immigrant problem. Until we force the 20 Plus million American born off thier asses and into the workforce their will be a market for low labor people the illegal will fill.

I don't disagree on any point.
Our vetting procedures are already crazy long - do you know any legal immigrants? It takes years and years of effort to become a US citizen.
Adding time to that already long procedure gains us nothing (and probably hurts us).:cert:
Ya, my SIL is English. She has a PHD and it took her a good bit to become a citizen, but it is what it is, and I'm glad that it is what it is.
You'll always have a few idiots that give the rest a bad name, but you have that here internally too. It's impossible to weed out stupid.

I've met and done business with Hundreds of legal immigrants over my lifetime. Mainly from The China,India, Taiwan, HK, the UK and France.
most were H1B visa holders who became citizens over time.
I've also met many illegals. Mostly hard working people who want to make a better life for themselves.
So innocent people getting killed "would have been terrific"? ::wtf:
Irony phone.....it's for TxAg.

what is irony
Recently I was walking and talking with my co-worker, who happens to be a freelance writer and aspiring journalist. We were talking about the fact that our employers were providing us with a Thanksgiving lunch the day after Thanksgiving, and she said, “It’s so ironic!’’ – all emphasis and drawing-out of syllables possible used on the last word.
This is a smart girl I’m talking about. She’s a college graduate and has done her fair share of writing and reporting. And even so, she doesn’t know the definition of irony.
Merriam-Webster defines irony as:
1: a pretense of ignorance and of willingness to learn from another assumed in order to make the other’s false conceptions conspicuous by adroit questioning —called also Socratic irony
2: a) the use of words to express something other than and especially the opposite of the literal meaning
b) a usually humorous or sardonic literary style or form characterized by irony
c) an ironic expression or utterance
3: a) : incongruity between the actual result of a sequence of events and the normal or expected result; an event or result marked by such incongruity
b) incongruity between a situation developed in a drama and the accompanying words or actions that is understood by the audience but not by the characters in the play —called also dramatic irony, tragic irony
A simple way of putting it is that irony usually signals a difference between the appearance of things and reality. For instance, here is how Wikipedia defines it: “Ironic statements (verbal irony) often convey a meaning exactly opposite from their literal meaning. In ironic situations (situational irony), actions often have an effect exactly opposite from what is intended.”

There is no plan.
If one person loses their life because we weren't vigilant and smart about not letting these zealots into this country, we've failed to protect our citizens. There are hundreds of other countries in this world that people can emigrate to. I don't give a damn what is carved on the Statue of Liberty...the US doesn't always have to be a dumping ground for every oppressed person on the planet simply because they think they can make more money or because we've made it ridiculously easy to get in here.
By dismissing these acts of terror as the random actions of "single individuals", you're basically setting up innocent victims around the world as sacrificial lambs in order to advance the cause of globalism and open borders. Then, when 5 or 6 of these "single individuals" carry out a terror attack and kill over 100 people and injure a few hundred others, these same people will wring their hands and cry "ohhhhhh how could this happen!!!"
You let it happen.

I think I'm a decent fella with compassion for those in need for many reasons. Yet, I dgaf about fairies feelings that embrace and will give shelter to those that are invading under the guise of being a refugee.
Further, many here know I've been to plenty of the Middle East where the culture is often two steps from a fukking cave.
