As I was working on my Olds engine, Bill mentioned how good the original battery box was ( considering it's over 110 years old ) and I should put it up on a shelf to show it off too.

After seeing what kind of coin original cast shelf brackets go for, I decided that vintage style would be just fine.

I got a pair of these off ebay and they will be topped with a piece of rough sawn oak about 12" wide and 18" long :cool1:
7 3/4" tall top to bottom, 12 1/2" from the wall to the front
( Those butt ugly cabinets are in my basement workshop :seasix: )

The snow melted enough that Roger and I were able to get to his wood pile.

The oak plank for the shelf is a full 12" wide, a heavy one inch thick and about 27" long. I did a quick sanding with 100 grit to knock down the high spots and remove dirt. All the saw marks are still there.
