Ran into the guy that purchased my '69 Camaro ( unbelievably sad )

I ran into "J" who purchased my '69 Camaro ( as a roller ) about 7 years ago. Nice straight car that was originally a 307 powerglide car. Dark blue ( fair ) with black interior (nice), console, tilt wheel and a ton of extra parts. New GM quarters, steel cowl induction hood , Z-28 QR steering box , new grill,BN Hooker comp headers, front header panel plus a bunch more.

I ask him how he doing with the car and he drops his head, looking at the ground. About five years ago, he was having marital problems and transfered the title into his dad's name. Both him and his dad have been working on it. He purchased a nice small block for it for $3K and a worked turbo 400 for $1500. He also picked up a pair of new GM front fenders. Since his work has been slow, he hasn't done much the past year.

Then he told me the part that was completely unbelievable---- His Dad traded the camaro and all the parts for a Chevy Astro van about three months ago. :banghead:

He told me he hasn't spoken to his dad since he found out and he said it might be until next year before he even thinks of talking to him again.

He transfered the title about 5 years ago. ( his wife is pretty but bat shit crazy )

Who thought he'd trade a car ( just in parts worth $5-$7K ) for a Astro van worth $3K at best. :crazy:

Dark blue with white stripes. 15 x8 vette rallys on the back, 15 x 7 monte carlo rallys up front.

It had a black vinyl top.

I saw an ad at the local speed shop it read " '69 camaro manual steering box $5 " I call the guy and he says, yes, I pulled it out of my '69 camaro. I get directions and go to where he keeps the car.

He opens the door and there sits an absolutely perfect '69 Z-28 Camaro ( correct DZ coded motor ). Trying to keep from drooling, I ask if the box came out of that? Yes, I put in power steering so my girl friend could drive it.

I check out the box and it's a quick ratio steering box, it was worth $200 back then.
