An attack on the compound of Libya leader Muammar al-Qaddafi on Sunday had to curtailed because of journalists nearby, Fox News has learned.

British sources confirmed that seven Storm Shadow missiles were ready to be fired from a British aircraft, but the strikes had to be curtailed off due to crews from CNN, Reuters and other organizations nearby. Officials from Libya's Ministry of Information brought those journalists to the area to show them damage from the initial attack and to effectively use them as human shields.

The curtailment of this mission led to a great deal of consternation by coalition commanders, sources told Fox News, but they opted to call off the mission to avoid civilian casualties.

Oh, and later it came out that CNN was allowing Saddam to pass on his propaganda, which played uncommented on CNN, in order for them to maintain access to Saddam - apparently so they could get more juicy propaganda to pass on to the west.

This is the sort of deep-threaded knowledge base that I expect people commenting on western reporters acting as toadies, er, human shields, er, brave reporters to understand. Some people think that they can toss insult after insult, many to our intelligence, and escape any retribution. They think incorrectly.

Liberals, which make up the bulk of the media, operate on a hierarchical victimology program. To them Khaddafi is the victim in the confrontation with the West. So there appears to be more to the story. Fox News had a reporter in the group too. What a bunch of douchebags to leave that little fact out of their bullshit story. The Fox reporter of the original story had to apologize and clarify that last night after being called out for shit reporting.

Oh, and the reporters were rushed in and out, so they were never used as human shields.

the problem with that is... you're using CNN as a viable source :)

they are certainly not "the last word". Continue to be open-minded for the next "report" on this matter.

a member of the Fox team, a security guard, was given a camera and went on the trip to Gadhafi's compound.

a security guard??? sounds like CNN is the one stretching the truth. No FOX News reporter or camera crew was there; there was no FOX official presence.

What? If you noticed, I didn't say a word about Fox. They are part of the MSM too you know. The fact remains that the reporters willingly took the Colone'ls offer up to be little propaganda ponies and that their presence precluded an attack on his compound because they were, in effect, acting as human shields. If anything, Fox bringing this to light, even if disingenuous, makes them better than the others who would have never told you about it.

I don't see how the manner of a violent death makes much difference to the person about to experience it. Dead by a missile is just as dead as shot by a cracked up drug dealer or burned to death in an arsonists fire. Your "Human Nature" argument just doesn't hold up.

Reporters were present in Baghdad knowing the US had issued a mandate to Saddam that would result in a massive attack by their own armed forces.

As to your claim that the reporters "had no idea", how do you know this? Have you talked to them? Were you there? Did you read or hear somewhere that they had no idea an attack was about to happen?

no they don't.

I didn't say there was no one there; what I said was there was no "official " presence. A security guard who dreams of becoming a field reporter.... who takes it upon himself to go and take pics - is not official network participation.

That's why FOX said originally that there was no one there from FOX... because no reporters were assigned; period.

That fact is still true.

Symantics??? possibily; but the left LOVES TO SLURRRRR things and it's important to keep the full facts clear in ones mind.
