(Just kidding....)

I see a lot of commercials for Henry Repeating Rifles. I have no interest in buying, but it strikes me as unusual because I never see any other gun manufacturer advertise. Is this a good rifle or is the guy just using the "Made in America" slogan to prop up his products?

First of all, there is no relation between the modern Henry rifles and the Henry from the old days.

I don't own one, but they are apparently fine rifles for what they are. I was interested in one of their central fire 'Big Boy' models (in 357) a few years ago, but ended up with a 92 Winchester clone instead.

Their 22 rifles seem to have loyalists, and a good reputation. :island14:

i have a 44mag lever action. fine gun. they mostly make rifles (lever action) as well as the AR-7 survival rifle (22lr).

i would guess that lever action rifles aren't as "scary" as other firearms made by other manufacturers.

plenty of ads in the gun press if you want to read other ads. just got my electronic version of the NRA's American Rifleman. lots of ads.

A good friend of mine has several. Truly works of art. If fact, he makes you put on gloves to pick them up. Lol

I guess I should qualify that I've never seen any ads for firearms on TV. :yesnod:

yep. only Henry. i mostly see them on Fox News.

only SW and Ruger are publicly traded, everyone else is privately held. guess they know how to promote and sell their arms, as they are still in business.

Good guns!

If you know your gun history, they are related to Jovino guns of NY City (think of the movie Serpico) John Jovino gun shop!

I figure if the .gov starts trying to take away guns the "cowboy rifle" will be one of the last ones on their list.

Mike, I have a Henry .357. Remind me the next time you are at the house, and I might let you fondle it.

Henry is currently the only manufacturer whose ads I see on "mainstream" channels. There are several makers who advertise on the outdoor, sportsman's and motorsport channels. I have even seen ads for Daniel Defense (a local operation) on our evening news. I apparently watch different programming than the OP.

Finding something to fondle would be nice. A rifle hadn't really entered my mind though. :D

I see ads for Glock from time to time on regular channels, and do see tons of gun ads on the outdoor channel, especially when The Best Defense, and the like is on.

Sig Sauer advertises on the local channels here, but they advertise their training facility, not their products.

Only lever action I bee interested in would be a Chuck Conners/Rifleman variation with the large loop lever.....so I could do his trick....

you know, hold it out, cock and flip the rifle in one move, then hit the target at first shot......:seasix::issues::lol:

Henry Rifle slogan is "Made in America or not made at all" :yesnod:

They have a lot of offering for vets too. My friend Terry is a retired Ranger and he got a custom serial number on his rifle.

i am getting my 12 yo daughter a .22. I took her to the local gun shop thinking she would end up with a pink Ruger 10/22 or something. Nope, a Henry Golden Boy is what she wants. After checking it out, I think she has good taste. It was really nice. My only concern is that she would likely want a scope and that is not something you put on a gun like that.

I would imagine they are tapped already for a mount, so you could always go back and forth.

Don't get me wrong, Ruger 1022's are a fine rifle, but you should be proud that she was more interested in the classier (IMO) Lever Rifle. :seasix:

They aren't. The standard models are though.

The notice at the end makes perfect sense, IMO.
