View Full Version : People Suck.....Texas Edition

During the Christmas holidays, someone stole a package off my neighbor's porch. Another neighbor saw the suspicious car and took down the license plate, then later put two and two together when he found out about the stolen package. The police questioned the car's owner, and it turned out one of the grandkids was driving, but of course no one owned up to the theft and there was no actual proof.

Fast forward to last week. The same neighbor with the stolen package saw a suspicious car sitting in front of his house (we live on a short cul de sac, we know who belongs and who doesn't). So he went out to talk to them, they gave some fishy response about looking for someone with the name of no one on this block. So my neighbor called the police. I don't know what the outcome of that interaction was, but cue to today. My neighbor's dad died last night. Another neighbor and I went over today to give condolences, only to find out the house had been egged.....apparently last night, the same night our neighbor's father died.

So we cleaned it up, and luckily it all came off, because egg will stain brick and paint. We are all thinking about putting up security cameras, but damn, we shouldn't have to. The neighbors that have had these problems? They are the nicest people you could ever meet. They don't deserve this crap.

[end rant]

Isn't Tejas open carry?
Approaching the car with his pistolo bared would have done the trick, one would think.

And because it's Texas, if they are stealing anything, open fire.

Just walk out with a TV and some jewelry, throw it in their car, and open fire. :Jeff '79:

Texas permits open carry only with a CCW permit, for handguns, but it's legal to open carry a long gun, because Constitution. Go figure the logic of that. The Constitution doesn't apply to handguns?

In any event, I think my neighbor made the right call. If I saw someone I didn't know parked on our street, I'd ask them if they needed help, too, just to figure out why they were there.

He should have MADE the call to popo.
Why put yourself into possible harm's way when you could just watch it from your living room chair ?
He had nothing to gain other than an easier shot at the licence plate.
What if it were Woody Harrelson or John Travolta??
