This is the first one. It is a Gilbarco 1952 model 996. I did this one in Texaco Skychief. My next one to do will be a red and white Texaco Firechief.

This is before

When I started looking at the pictures, I thought that's a good starting base.

It turned out fantastic and was glad to see the correct style vintage nozzle on it. :cool1:

I looked up the history of average gas prices for 1952, and that's what it came up with.

The globe, and stickers are reproductions I take it? The whole thing looks really good. Are the internals functioning as well?

I looked up the history of average gas prices for 1952, and that's what it came up with.

What is interesting about that to me is that I recall my parents buying a new 1970 Mustang and gas was 32 cents. So in 18 years, it changed by 3 cents. Think about what gas today, versus 18 years ago is. $1.14 vs $2.14

Was 3 cents in 1970 worth a dollar in today's money?

Nice job Brian.....and thanks for making me feel really OLD! :toetap:
My first gas jockey job was cranking on pumps like that all day long, and I remember during one gas price war the price went down to .29.9 from the normal of .39.9.....

When you were really busy at one pump smart guys used to stop their pump and reset them to 0.00 and start them again....bastards. And that's when a full tank would be 6 or 8 bucks! :slap:

Very nice. I thought of getting one for the garage but it is hard to find a used one that you don't pay an arm and a leg for.

The globe and stickers are repros, but the Gilbarco face panels are the original ones from the pump. The upper internals are all working but the lower pump has been removed.

Both of the pumps came with the wrong nozzles, I had to go searching on the internet to find the correct Gilbarco nozzles and cleaned them up.

It is nice looking, but I do not think it is original, I think it was just a hat with a Texaco badge put on it.

It looks like the sheet metal on the side is completely rusted through. Did you have to weld in a new section, manufacture a new side, or find a replacement without rust?

Looks beautiful BTW. :cert:

Looks are deceiving, it was just some heavy surface rust and cleaned up pretty good.
