Yes, I was just there, and I got a message box saying something about I was trying to access a site in my trusted list or something like that. I was able to access the site, but it was extremely slow.

I went there this morning at work, had a friend request to confirm. Before lunch got antivirus notice (bloodhound virus). At lunch time my NMCI account was disabled. No outlook, no email, no internet at work until Monday, at the earliest. Last time I go CF! :skep:

My laptop just picked up some sort of PITA spyware/virus as of yesterday. It constantly keeps telling me my computer has some trojans and that I need to buy this anti-malware software that looks like it's from Microsoft. The damn window keep showing up every 30 seconds.

Right as I'm typing this, this BS came up:

http://img696.imageshack.us/img696/6327/malware1.png

How do I get rid of this BS?

I don't think it came from CF, but it's possible. I think it came form an efukt video that I watched that was linked on BCF, but I'm not positive.

Run a deep scan immediately.

I am assuming that your anti-virus dat files are current, or you will have a problem.

Some self-replicating viruses are a pain toi get rid of. Some are impossible short of formatting.
I have had to format hard drives for two clients that I could not clear for them.

One was an engineer that turned off his anti-virus because it slowed down his porn - he actually told me that.
Spent 2 full days on his system - a friggin nightmare.

Three months later he called with the same problem, same cause.
Told him to take his business elsewhere. (I don't charge a fee for support).

if you are infected, and can't clean it up with a deep scan, write down all the virus names that you see.

For the real nasty ones, there are sometimes separate cleaner tools that target that one specific virus.
These cleaners are produced my Norton and MCAfee, and usually work well.

I will check back here on Friday, and send you my phone number if you can't get some local help.

Good luck.:willy:

PS: HIghly unlikely that it came from CF.

SLO, that is exactly what I got on my work laptop yesterday very shortly after opening CF.com. That's where you got it.

Ran a scan and got rid of it, ran another and it seemed clean, then when I ran a third this moring there was another spyware program on the machine. :willy:

The anti-malware pop up you got showed up on my virus scan as "fake avg" or something like that.

I guess some of these Admins "think" they can handle it all, and not take advice from anyone.

I guess he should have read your profile Rice, and maybe he would have listened because we know now he ......SHOULD HAVE! :slap:

I would suggest getting Malwarebytes and www.malwarebytes.org (http://www.malwarebytes.org).

The free version works really well. So well that we use it when a machine gets in trouble and gets hammered with spyware.

Just my thoughts...

Realize that it will need to be updated before you run it and you may have to run it in safe mode, with networking support. I think I average about $400 a week going around fixing these hijacks alone, on top of my regular calls. The computer business has been booming for me all year. The hijack are getting very creative so just one tool may not be enough. You really have to study how some of the hijacks work in order to know how to get around them.

But hey, that's what us computer geeks are for. :yesnod:

P.S. A good antivirus is a must today. I prefer Kaspersky Antivirus (not the Internet security, just the antivirus). Also, stay off porn sites like Corvette Forum!

Pretty worthless. LOWCASH PM'd me over there and I had to reply to him here when it kept blowing up. If I was a vendor I'd be short paying this month.

Have you placed any posts in addition to viewing threads?

My recent failures over at CF were attempts to post on existing threads.
In both cases, my replies were going to be useful responses to inquiries, but failed at the "Submit reply" step.

I hate intermittent issues. :confused5:
