Friend of mine just got one and says it's great.

Thanks :cert:

Not a replacement, but a good product and a good start. It can be an alternative depending on what you want.

Watch network channels? Buy an HD antenna.

Want the other "cable" channels? You need something like Sling TV or the new DirectTV Now.

See my post here: http://www.thevettebarn.com/forums/off-topic/104522-end-year-rant-about-cable-companies.html#post1528770

CNET scored Roku higher. I have a Roku and use it often.

I do everything with Roku and OTA Antenna. Not perfect, but I'm relatively happy with this arrangement.

All you need is an HD antenna, about $35-$50, to receive all the basic networks. ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX.

I have a Roku, chromecast, firestick, and Apple TV. I like the Roku best. I rarely use the Firestick. They are all basically the same to me though.

Yeah, I have smart TV's, Apple TV's, and really it boils down to what you want. I'm probably going to stream a movie tonight, and will see if it's cheaper on the Amazon Prime app or Apple TV. Either one is fine. Streaming TV is a lot different in the way you use it than the old cable or satellite box. I still have DirecTV and am still scratching my head at times as to why. Probably cancelling NFL Sunday Ticket this next year because honestly my team sucks and the NFL as a brand is really going downhill.

It's ****in ridiculous, I don't want to hijack the thread, but Jesus Holy Jumping Christ. They are fining guys for inconsequential 'infractions' that have absolutely nothing to do with anything. Goodell needs to be fired, he's a terrible dickhead. It's turning into the Politically Correct and Pussified version of the WWE.

On a side note, for Jeff, I've been binge watching Hell on Wheels for awhile on Netflix with my Roku. They finally added the remaining 5th Season episodes, and I have only a few more to go.

You would really enjoy that series Jeff, I think we probably have some common interests, and being a Western Themed/Railroad type show, you would probably dig it. :yesnod:
