My mom bought my wife a series 1 for Christmas. Well now I'm envious and ordered one for myself. I couldn't justify the extra $100 for the series 2 just for it having built in GPS and being water proof to 50 meters. Anyone else have one? What are your likes and dislikes? Useful apps?

Pics of wife?

I don't have an Apple Watch, as it doesn't work with my Android phone.

I don't have one but a friend of mine does. He loves it. I futzed around with it for a bit and found everything was just too small to deal with. In other words I couldn't see shit.

I've had one since they first came out. I still like it. Does what I want. Notifications, quick text responses, etc.

My wife uses hers for activity/exercise tracking as well and likes that.

Most of the issues I have are application specific. Some do a poor job with notifications.

I always have my phone in my pocket. Can't think of any reason for one. And now that I got my Submariner fixed up, good to go!

i have had several people in my job and business that own them and they seem to like them, as for me i agree you need to have 20/20 vision because the wording is small:)

I like mechanical watches. I can't see myself charging a watch every day. If the watch stops, give it a couple shakes, reset the time and you are good to go. :seasix:

It will continue to function as a watch for 72 hours, even when the battery is "dead". I got the bigger of the two for the reasons mentioned above

I got my wife one for Christmas, she is in love with it. The case is too small for my big arms, but I'm going to get the Fossil smart watch, since I love my LG.

I didn't know if I'd like a smartwatch, but I rarely leave home without it now.

The big one is still too small?

I have the series 2 and love it. I had a fitbit surge but the tech messaging and phone calls were sketchy. I like the notifications. I don't think the text or other items are too small. I wear glasses and everything looks great. I like being on my wifi at home and not dragging the phone around. Was in the garage the other day and got a phone call, just answered from the watch. I can go all around our property, 2 acres, and not worry about carrying the phone. My watch stays connected the entire property.
I also use the Apple Airport extreme and airport express for my wifi.
The initial bands I got with the watch I didn't really care for. I bought a few off of Amazon and found some very comfortable bands for 1/10th the price of Apple or Best Buy pricing.

I've had one over a year now. It is as useless today as it appeared to be the day I got it. It was a gift from my wife, so I wear it to keep from getting my ass beat. IMO, it's one of the best examples of technology that is completely unnecessary to human existence.

I have the series 1 42mm for the same reasons you mentioned...not worth the bump for me to get GPS.

I did not think I would like it, but I cannot leave home with out it.

I like that the notifications are sent straight to my phone if I do not have my phone in hand. I can determine if its someone calling or messaging me and whether or not I need to answer it. Tracking my activity is a big thing for me too, I like to try and beat my goals everyday.

Overall I am satisfied with it, I do not really have any app suggestions though.

I think it's just because you're old

I keep looking at the apple watches. I was about to buy one, thinking I had two gift cards to Frys electronic store, turns out they were to Frys food store instead :banghead: So I might not do the Watch anymore.

I have a very nice Citizen watch that i wear every day, i'm struggling seeing myself wearing an apple gadget inplace of my existing watch. I do however see the apple watch as a viable replacement to a fit bit with heart monitor.

I have a Series 2 Applewatch. I chose the Series 2 because it has a faster processor and I had heard reports that the Series 1 lagged with some apps. It only gets worse with successive updates, so I figured I'd start with the fastest version and watch it slow down until it becomes a paperweight.

As for the Watch itself, I have worn it non-stop for about 2 months and have not worn any of my other watches including GSAR, Rolex, Omega, and Panerai which are sitting in my safe. The reason I started wearing it was because I kept missing important messages and texts at work, and the watch is great for giving you instant notifications of both. I use it less for the GPS and exercise features, but the text, phone and email notifications are great.

I can be in a meeting and get a gentle reminder on my wrist of a message. I can even reply to it without pulling out my phone.

So far I love it. It does what I need it to do. The weather has sucked here the last few days so I haven't gotten to ride my bike any. One of the main things I want from it is to use it as a tool to help lose some weight and keep me off my phone some. So far it's doing both

Yeah, I don't like anything smaller than 50mm.Damn that is a big watch. I think the largest I have out of 11 watches is 43MM. And that seems big. Looking at the Apple Watch. Maybe for my bday:D:cert:
