After months of dealing with a major pain in the ass loan officer, we got it buttoned up.

They starting marking the lot yesterday, and now they're working on moving some of the plumbing.

Nice! :cert: Is that on a lake or does that canal take you out to saltwater?

Both. Canal is off the saltwater lake, which opens into the gulf.

Looks like you'll get to know the Texas mosquitos well there. :yesnod:

They aren't bad, we live 2 doors down right now.

Nice setting. :seasix: Having a place built should be quite an adventure.

My wife & I are considering doing the same, but for different reasons. We're old, and would like a single-level house with no stairs. I've heard that having a house built can be among the more stressful life events; not sure if I can handle it, but we'll see.

Good luck with your build! :cert:

I already have a rash on my arm. You heard correctly, dealing with this many people is a f'king nightmare.

if you pick the wavy roof option, that'll save you a few bucks, but it will buy you endless grief.

just over a year ago my shop wrapped up construction.

take lots of pics, both for yourself and for us. :yesnod:

Moving plumbing before construction?

Building is fun. 1/3 of the way into my construction project. I have no free time being a general contractor, plumber, electrician, cabinetmaker, finish trimmer flooring layer, planner, rougher on the outbuilding, among other tasks, but it's fun nonetheless.

The guy we bought it from was just about to build his own house on the lot, when he decided to sell instead. They had already run some plumbing, which is located where our driveway will be. Just some minor moving.

My father-in-law is a retired carpenter. I have zero doubt that he will be there most of the day keeping an eye on everything, plus it is only 2 doors down from where we live right now.

NICE looking house you have pix there above.....two comments though...number one is about your age and how long you plan on living there.....age 72 here, for example, bought this in '97 single level on a slab, block/stucco construction you will learn to hate stairs as I do for some years now.....and anything like a modern stylish spiral staircase like we dealt with in a rehab recently....you will grow to HATE, no matter the appearance.....

on the exterior, do NOT get shingles these daze, they will last maybe 15 years IF you lucky, get a white metal roof, standing seam......not that much more but it's there for life, unless a major storm or fire.....

looks as if you have about an acre there....nice lot enough room for a nice go to hell garage.....lifts, compressors, room for boat storage, docks, fishin', sailin' skiin, tubin, :seasix::hurray::cert:

One suggestion to be made during the build. Have a light switch for the outside lights in the master bedroom. :yesnod:

Once again, congrats :toast:
